The couple who live in and run the ryokan vacation stay, were incredibly kind and helpful. It’s clear they have a strong sense of hospitality and go above and beyond to make their guests feel comfortable — from offering several types of shampoo, conditioner, and soap so everyone can find a scent they love, to providing a fully equipped kitchen open for everyone’s use. The house is large and spacious, and our daughters absolutely loved it, running around happily. In addition, the home itself is beautiful — an authentic and immersive traditional Japanese house. We would be happy to stay here again someday.

1. All the instruction was very well explained in English in their e-mail. 2. Location is convenient from the JR station and there's a Family Mart in 3 min walk 3. A very very well equipped Japanese home and it's super spacious. 4. Being able to do laundry and cook in a trip is a bless.

We wanted to check out Kusasenrigahama, hike the Kuju Mountains and then go to Kurokawa Onsen Town, and this was the perfect spot for the first leg of our trip because it is so convenient to the Makinoto Pass Trailhead. The room itself is spacious and peaceful, with large windows overlooking green rolling hills. Beds are so comfy, including the duvet and cover. There was a long desk along the windows, great if you need to do some work or writing. The staff is great, and the western style of the restaurant and lobby is fun.
