The place, the host and the workers are all amazing! It is the best place! You won’t regret staying there! Very calm surroundings, loved the pool, the rooms are very comfortable and clean. But the most amazing thing is Patricia (the host). She is exceptional! She will welcome you like a friend, she will give you amazing pieces of advice and, if you need anything, she will be very happy to help you. She helps her community and has such a big heart. She cooked us breakfast every morning and asked us what we wanted, like in a restaurant, wow! Come with an open heart and mind and you will have the experience of a lifetime! Dee is an exceptional host! Felt welcomed and at home from the minute we arrived. She creates a very warm atmosphere where we felt comfortable chilling in the common areas. She helped us arrange transport and a village walking tour! We were sad to leave so soon. Comfy room with a good fan. All parts of the house were very clean and the garden is gorgeous. We had home-cooked dinner here one night and it blew us away and was very romantic with candlelight in the garden. Dee has a great community in town as well!

I chose Shimbwe because it is located in Mt Kilimanjaro near Materuni Waterfall. The owner & staff are most welcoming & helpful. The booking.com description is accurate and the managenent waa very responsive to email ahead of my arrival. The home-cooked food is excellent. The view of Mt Kilimanjaro peak is mesmerizing when the clouds clear. The highlight of my stay was the day hike to Materuni waterfall. Baraka is an outstanging guide, so knowledgable, personable, sharing info about the nature of the area and Chagga culture. We had a terrific day of hiking through this beautiful area.

More Than A Drop is a simple but comfortable stay. I booked my pre and post Mt Kilimanjaro climb with them and the staff, especially Millie, took incredible care of me. They are compassionate and caring, and the venue serves a great cause by being a platform for young women to gain an education in hospitality. Their breakfast was filling, and facilities are kept nice and clean. They also served lunch & dinner, and the food and drinks did not disappoint! It is important to note that this is a very simple venue, so no pool/spa and the wifi isn't great in the rooms, but this is all clearly mentioned in the facilities prior to booking, so I had managed my expectations. Overall, it was a great stay, and I definitely recommend staying here if your needs aren't fancy.
