Minutes from the channel tunnel and an easy drive to Hythe for all amenities. We loved the room and the pretty gardens. We were able to sit outside and eat our picnic tea in the sunshine. The bed was great and we slept well. Good takeaway breakfast.

Just a 5-minute walk from the Canterbury Tales attraction, the Cathedral Lodge is only 700 metres from Canterbury West Railway Station. Parking vouchers for the public car park outside the grounds can be purchased from reception on arrival. The Annex room with private bathroom was very good. The description of having to climb 40 stairs to the annex rooms is misleading. It was not a straight up 40 Steps but definitely not for those traveling with suitcases. Loved the closeness to the cathedral which allowed free unlimited walking in the cathedral and on the grounds all day. Breakfast was sit down by time skits and offered a fabulous huge choice. The rooms bathroom was big and the room had a large smart tv. Internet signal was strong. Definitely the place to stay if you’re a pilgrim starting the Via Francigena because you feel your right in the centre of this beautiful religious sanctuary.
