There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The guest house also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. The people make the place even better. I would love to go back again and stay more nights. You can also buy cinnamon sticks, black pepper etc… direct from their farm… so it’s cheap.

The guest house is situated close to the park and near to the road the dissects the park. Take an evening safari on the road if you can. The accommodation is very clean. I found it hard to leave these lovely people.

The Western and Sri Lankan food we enjoyed during our stay was outstanding. The owner of the property is very kind and personally ensures that guests are comfortable. She helped us book a Yala safari with a professional naturalist. We will definitely return. This property is a gem, and with the first-class service of the staff, there's no need to look further. We highly recommend staying at this property if you plan to visit Block 5 in Yala, as it is closer to Block 5.

The natural sounds of birds and wind made the stay even more soothing. 🐦🌾 One of the highlights was the huge swimming pool – perfect for cooling off and enjoying the tranquil surroundings. A special shoutout to Chef Appu, who served up the most delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry – full of authentic flavor and made with love! 🍛 The breakfasts were big and tasty, and every meal during our stay was exceptional – both in variety and quality. Definitely value for money! We also did a half-day Yala Safari, which was very well arranged and added a real adventure to our trip. 🐘🦚 Overall, this was a wonderful and memorable experience. Situated in Galgamuwa in the Monaragala District region, Redstone Cottage Gal Oya has a terrace and mountain views. This was honestly one of the most welcoming and thoughtful places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, Sydney and his team looked after us so well. The chef asked what we fancied and was very accommodating. He cooked the most amazing curry, lunch and honey hoppers for breakfast (which we were introduced to and absolutely loved). They even gave us a packed lunch for our elephant boat safari, which they organised, along with a great driver. There were little extra touches that made such a different, like beers in the fridge when we arrived (and they went to get more when we ran out), a cooking class with a local family, a really interesting forest walk with an indigenous guide and when we asked if we could do some laundry they sorted it for us with no trouble at all. The cottage is in a beautiful, quiet spot with amazing Mountain View’s, a perfect place to switch off. Would highly recommend supporting this amazing project. Such a great experience 😊😊
