Everything was very tidy and you could tell, that Michael, the owner, payed a lot of attention to detail. The location was great, with Plaza de Armas only a short stroll away.. Breakfast was delicious and unique and honestly, I have never tasted a better cappuccino in the whole of Latin America and I have traveled there a lot! Everything was prepared with much love and you could tell that Michael is a chef. Michael is such a warm, welcoming person, that, during my one night stay made me feel so at home. He even made it possible for me to have a very early check in at 10:00 am! He went above and beyond helping me to organize my further trip m, etc: “Thank you very much Michael for everything you did for me.” I can only recommend his great place to fellow travelers!

Claudia’s cooking was equally remarkable—each meal was a masterpiece filled with love and flavor. And, of course, we can’t forget Tupac, their adorable and friendly llama. Hugging him was such a unique and heartwarming experience! The lodge is a perfect blend of comfort, charm, and cultural immersion. To top it off, Rodi is beginning to organize Inca Trail tours with a big focus on ensuring porters are treated with the utmost care and respect. If you’re looking to explore one of the most unique places on Earth while supporting ethical practices, this is the place to start. We couldn’t recommend Spirit of the River Lodge more highly. The owners were like grandparents to our children - taking so much care to make them happy! Location close to the Moon temple is very nice, you can go for walks and horseback riding. We wanted to stay longer!

Amazing place to stay in beautiful location close to start of walk to salt mines. Super helpful, friendly and flexible. Incredible views in the rooms. TV with Netflix. Clean rooms, bedding, towels etc. Waited up late to let us in. Breakfast available whenever we wanted. Didn't mind us working in breakfast room.
