Ravenstone Manor 4 stars

Keswick

A 5-minute drive from Bassenthwaite Lake, Ravenstone Manor is an 19th-century manor house set in 3 hectares of ground. The property is at the foot of Skiddaw, overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. It offers stone walls and en suite bathrooms. The place is very cozy, warm and inviting. We had taken 4 rooms for 8 people and the staff took the effort to place us together.... The rooms are small but comfortable. We had to leave earlier the morning we were checking out. The staff was very kind to offer to pack us sandwiches as it was much earlier than their breakfast time. When we picked up the sandwiches, the staff actually packed us little lunch bags with a fruit, a mars bar, a water bottle along with the sandwiches. Way exceeded our expectations. Absolute gem of a place.

Belmount Hall

Hawkshead

Belmount Hall (formerly owned by Beatrix Potter) is in the heart of the Lake District, with views down the valley to Esthwaite Water on one side, and the rolling Lakeland hills on the other. The property is 15 minutes' walk from Hawkshead, where there are four pubs offering food, and 12 minutes' drive from Ambleside, where there are many restaurants.

Guests can enjoy an included continental breakfast. Dogs are welcome to stay, but must not get on beds or be fed in the bedrooms. There is a shared sitting room with a flat-screen TV and books. Fantastic hosts & accommodation. My girlfriend and I booked a two night stay and we absolutely loved our time at Belmount Hall, a warm and welcoming hotel with just the right blend of personal but professional service.
