The food was amazing, it was an experience on it's own. Be prepared to eat things that you wouldn't usually eat and have a real authentic Japanese experience. I looked forward to breakfast every day, the food was beautiful and presented beautifully. The owners are super helpful and the location to the ski lifts is superb. We hadn't done an Onsen yet until we stayed at Shiga Kogen, so it was baptism by fire as the shared bathrooms is the Onsen, but don't be put off, it's an amazing experience and the Onsen is great after a day on the slopes.

We had the most exceptional experience at Shiga No Yu - their staff was incredibly accommodating despite our poor Japanese and they provided a clean onsen, warm and cosy accommodation and most importantly the most amazing meals for breakfast and dinner every day! If you are looking for a traditional experience right outside a chairlift, this is the place to be!

Located a 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Hotel Housei offers free WiFi access, indoor/outdoor hot spring baths and air-conditioned Japanese-style rooms. Exceptionally friendly staff always smiling and making you feel welcomed, they picked us up from the station and drove back after the stay without even asking them for this service

The hotel owners are so kind and available. They assisted us throughout our stay and we got a lot of complimentary services we did not expect. Free transportation to the monkey park, free rental of ski materials (including clothes, helmet...everything!). My walking shoes broke and they tried fix them and gave me another pair to use in the meantime.

The staff were unbelievably kind and helpful, even through the language barrier. The room was an AMAZING Japanese-style ryokan room. The onsens were clean and wonderfully warm. The location was outstanding and I loved every minute here. I wish I had been able to extend my stay!
