We had the most exceptional experience at Shiga No Yu - their staff was incredibly accommodating despite our poor Japanese and they provided a clean onsen, warm and cosy accommodation and most importantly the most amazing meals for breakfast and dinner every day! If you are looking for a traditional experience right outside a chairlift, this is the place to be!

Located a 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Hotel Housei offers free WiFi access, indoor/outdoor hot spring baths and air-conditioned Japanese-style rooms. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the stay especially memorable. The hotel is a lovely, calm, and very clean place, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay.

The hostess was the most accommodating, helpful, friendly hotel proprietor I have come across in all my years of travel. When there was an issue with our booking (our fault) and the hotel was full, she went out of her way to sort out an amazing space for us to stay that night. She goes out of her way for all her guests in all facets of their stay. The great location, close to the train station, and free ski and snowboard rental gear are added bonuses.

The staff were unbelievably kind and helpful, even through the language barrier. The room was an AMAZING Japanese-style ryokan room. The onsens were clean and wonderfully warm. The location was outstanding and I loved every minute here. I wish I had been able to extend my stay!
