We had the most exceptional experience at Shiga No Yu - their staff was incredibly accommodating despite our poor Japanese and they provided a clean onsen, warm and cosy accommodation and most importantly the most amazing meals for breakfast and dinner every day! If you are looking for a traditional experience right outside a chairlift, this is the place to be!

Located a 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Hotel Housei offers free WiFi access, indoor/outdoor hot spring baths and air-conditioned Japanese-style rooms. The food was good and the staff were very friendly. Our room and bed was very comfortable and the private onsen was a very nice experience. They picked us up from the train station, free shuttle to and from snow monkey park and kindly agreed to drive as all the way to Nagano station which really helped us a lot.

Proprietors were so welcoming and accommodating for our every need. Amenities (shared and private onsen) were beautiful, and I enjoyed them every day of our stay! We were gifted some delicious manju at checkout--it really made our stay! Can't wait to come back and stay again!
