The receptionist were all very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our massages at the spa. Breakfast being included was a real plus and as a vegan there was a variety of items to choose. Staff in the dining room were very helpful and polite. I was very happy to be able to upgrade my room to a suite which was larger then the room we had originally ordered.

FAQs about hotels in Bucharest

Where Modern Meets Old

A fascinating mix of old and new, Bucharest is one of those cities where you can find a futuristic structure of glass and steel next to an old church, separated by a Communist-style massive edifice. Not overwhelmed by its dark past, the city is now turning its optimistic face towards the West.

Undergoing constant modernization, the city continually changes and new modern structures pop up in the city center and beyond. Great examples are the stunning Basarab Bridge, Europe’s widest cable bridge, and the City Gate Towers.

While admiring the new, don’t miss out on the old classics, like the Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building, with over 3100 rooms and impressive marble interiors covering 81.5 acres. Make sure you check out the view from Nicolae Ceauşescu's balcony!

To fully appreciate the city’s long history, from Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) to the ’89 revolution, the city offers free guided walking tours, giving you a great opportunity to discover all the city’s secrets. And spot all the best shopping venues!

Before you land at Bucharest Airport, just 11 miles from the city center, make sure you check what Booking.com has to offer: from hotels to apartments, just a few clicks away!

Our Bucharest Getaway – Full of Charm and Heart Bucharest...

Our Bucharest Getaway – Full of Charm and Heart Bucharest completely won us over, and this trip was extra special as it was our first mother–daughter adventure. The city offered the perfect blend of rich history, beautiful architecture, and welcoming people. From strolls through the Old Town to cozy cafés tucked away on quiet corners, every moment felt like it belonged in a memory book. We felt safe, inspired, and so connected—and the wonderful hospitality at Grand Hotel Continental only made our experience even more magical. It’s a trip we’ll cherish forever.

This is based on my experience in Bucharest in June. 1.

This is based on my experience in Bucharest in June. 1. Nightlife: The nightlife is amazing, but mostly limited to the Old Town. 2. Transport: Use public transport or ride-hailing services if you can—they are reasonably priced. 3. City Atmosphere: The city becomes quite dynamic in the evening and at night (especially the old town). 4. Parks and Day Trips: There are some beautiful parks and some worthwhile day trips from Bucharest. 5. Dracula Castle: The "Dracula Castle" was not what I expected—it may not match the common tourist image or stories. Taxi Experience with Uber and Bolt People in Bucharest are generally nice, but I did have some unfortunate experiences with taxi services—once each with Uber and Bolt—so please be cautious. (a) With Bolt: The driver arrived with a different license plate than shown in the app. For safety reasons, I chose not to take the ride. However, I was still penalized for exceeding the free waiting time. Thankfully, after explaining the situation, Bolt refunded the penalty. Still, that situation was frustrating and a waste of time. (b) With Uber: I booked a ride before departing Bucharest and paid the driver in cash. Later, the driver falsely reported that I hadn’t paid, covering almost the entire trip. Uber initially fined me, and I had to spend time explaining the situation before they eventually removed the charge. While these two experiences don’t reflect on all drivers, they did negatively affect my mood and consumed valuable time during the trip. Tips: Use electronic payment (like Apple Pay or a card) whenever possible, as many drivers in Romania do not provide receipts for cash transactions. If something goes wrong, contact Uber or Bolt customer service as soon as possible—they were responsive in my experience.

If you think that Bucharest is like other European/Romanian...

If you think that Bucharest is like other European/Romanian towns and cities, with a big square in the centre surrounded by cafes and bars, it is not. The old town is "lively" and every bar you pass has somebody trying to hand you a menu and tempt you inside. Many of the bars have DJs and we found the customers to be on the younger side. The streets in the Old Town can be quite crowded too. That said, Bucharest is a lovely city with much history and things to see and do. It is well worth a visit, but don't expect to be able to sit and relax in peace with a drink in the square at the end of the day if that's your thing. There are of course quieter places to have a drink, you just have to seek them out and try some of the lesser trodden side streets. If partying and club music is your thing, then the Old Town will suit you well and I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Visited over night to go to the Therma Spa. Would recommend.

Visited over night to go to the Therma Spa. Would recommend. Arrived around 12.00 and left around 8pm. Not expensive. Nice cocktails. Lots of areas to relax. Water lovely. Children's area with wave pool and water slides. Great fun but not so relaxing. Loads of beds. Options for treatments or just enjoy the spa. On easy bus routes. But very impressed with Uber. Slept at Europa near the old town. Hotel met our needs. Clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely evening meal and rasty breakfast. Nice area to look at some sights before heading back home.

The hotel is located just in the middle of the old town. Most of the sights can be reached by walking. There are many shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was large enough for two people and the internet connection was always stable during the stay. There was a fridge and kettle in our room. The breakfast was not the best but quite OK. There are only a few rooms in the hotel, so if you plan a stay in Bucharest, never hesitate and just book a room in this hotel.

Very nice hotel. The room was very big and clean. The beds and the sofa were very comfortable. Always hot water. Quiet room. The hotel is 3km far from the city centre but its a nice walk and in half an hour you can reach the old town. Next to the hotel there are many coffee shops and restaurants (noodle bars etc) as well as a super market. The staff are very polite and very helpful. Our stay was very good.
