This is a gem of a place which we highly recommend! El Sol enjoys magnificent views of the hills down to the plain being situated a couple of miles out of town where it is definitely warmer, sunnier and less wet. There are interesting gardens (plenty of birds) and a super pool area where you can swim, relax and watch the sunset in the evening. There are six different cabins, we stayed in three, all laid out with anything you might need with sunny views, one with a jacuzzi perched over the valley. The breakfast is superb and supper is available being tasty and convenient after a long day of sightseeing, alternatively there are plenty of suggestions to eat out. . Nothing is too much for Javier and Sian and their happy team. We liked El Sol so much that on our last night in Costa Rica we checked out of another hotel and came back to El Sol instead!

Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We were greeting with an offering of several types of beverages and a hot towel to freshen up with after our long trek up the mountain. The location itself was very private and quiet, and very close to several local restaurants and markets. It was also in a convenient location for us from activities we had planned. We only spent a few nights here but would have loved to stay longer.

This was such a wonderful place to stay. The food was fabulous. The cabin comfortable. And the family is the absolute best. Friendly, helpful and just awesome. It was so worth the long Costa Rican massage to stay here.

The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was really nice with a rain shower and beautiful concrete looking tile. Wonderful view of the lawn and trees where we saw agouti, tucans, and other birds. The pool was nicer than the picture on booking.com. It’s large and they really warmed it up during the cool evenings so we could still get in.

everyone was so kind and welcoming from the moment I arrived. there is so much to do in monteverde but the hosts helped guide my itinerary and booked all my activities. the property itself is breathtaking and I saw the sloth as well as many birds while walking around. as others have mentioned I think I saw more wildlife wandering the grounds than I did at some of the parks. I ended up extending my stay by 2 nights because I loved it so much. the cabin itself was spacious and very clean. I didn’t cook but the kitchen was fully stocked with stove, toaster oven, microwave, pans, utensils, coffee maker and kettle. had hot water. parking directly outside the cabanas so I was never worried about my car. there is a small mercado right across from the entrance if you need some groceries but don’t want to walk into town.

It was super cozy, especially in the evening when they lit the fire pit. Very well maintained property and very clean. The property is gorgeous with beautiful hiking trails. The breakfast that is included is a la cart and AMAZING! They even welcomed us with a refreshing beverage when we first arrived.

the pool area was covered which was nice as it does rain a lot. staff was helpful. rooms were regular rooms but they were clean. breakfast was good - lots of selection and was very tasty. it seems to be less of a family place. we stayed with kids who were playing and jumping in the pool. there were other guests there that were clearly there to relax and not be bothered by kids

The view of the lake with the birds dancing around was breathtaking. The pool and hot tub were also high on our list. Really friendly guest services. It was a memorable stay. Early check in so that our 3 year old could have a nap was so appreciated. Thank you, we will be back!
