Beautiful place just south of Salcedo. Los Molinos de Yanayacu is more than a place to stay, it’s a sanctuary. The grounds are blanketed with flowers and fruit trees and a sparkling stream. The love that has gone into restoring the place is evident everywhere you look — from the Jesuit Chapel, perfect for some contemplative time; to the restored aspects of a watermill (Ecuador’s first) from 1539. Many Incan artifacts collected on the grounds are displayed. The room was simple and perfect — absolutely clean, lovely bathroom and the hottest shower I’ve had since arriving in Ecuador (thank you!). Wake up early and go outside to welcome the morning with the many birds, you’ll be glad you did. Delicious breakfast. The owner, Isabel is as wonderful as the place itself — super welcoming and friendly to this solo traveler. I will long remember Los Molinos de Yanayacu, lugar de mucha tranquilidad.
