The location of the Pestana Tiergarten is just about as good as it gets in Berlin (which I know fairly well after 100+ visits over 39 years); in a quiet villa street right on the corner of the huge Tiergarten park and bordering on the main Embassy district. Quiet enough to sleep with the window open at night while within a short walk from the pulsating heart of West Berlin with Kurfurstendamm, KADEWE, Europacenter, Zoo, 24 hrs. nightlife and the main restaurant and shopping district. Rooms are comfortable and squeaky clean - and with super efficient airco. A comfortable and cozy bar at the ground floor and spa facilities in the basement. And after staying there at 2 different occasions in the course of 2 weeks I am happy to confirm that the personnel - from reception to room service - is efficient, pleasant and very helpful. In my own personal case, at 71 and after i.a. a lengthy carreer in professional sports, I have over the years developed an arthritis that shows when I'm walking. Although this was my first stay at this hotel in 12 years, and without having asked for any special treatment, the personnel at Pestana went out of their way to facilitate my stay in every way - speaking volumes about the culture at this hotel. I am happy to warmly recommend the Pestana Tiergarten for any type and age of traveller - and will back it up by being back the next time I visit Berlin!
