The property is a short drive out of the old town but walking distance to the beach. The room was beautifully decorated, extremely clean and comfortable. The gardens surrounding the accommodation were beautiful. Breakfast was available each morning on the back patio and included cereal, yoghurt, bagels, fresh papaya and tea and coffee. Su and Steve were very welcoming and friendly with suggestions of things to do. We arrived from Volcano with ash and pele's hair on our car. Su very kindly hosed down our car. We would not hesitate to recommend Orchid Tree to anyone coming to Hilo.

We learned about the history of the hotel, the island and had the best conversation about everything and nothing at the same time. If you stay here, you have to find Albert!
