Many other restaurants nearby and in Rovinj. Got water taxi into Rovinj harbour one evening. We’ve visited Istria a few times and this is the first time we’ve stayed on a site like this but it definitely had benefits especially for families. It's located close to the center of Izola - a car is not needed (nor recommended) to visit it. From the back entry, the Dolphin Beach is just a few steps away. It's a rocky shore, but there are several stairs into the water. The inside pool is filled with salty water, which is great. Italy is not far away, you can see Trieste across the sea. We had some extremely good food but the quality was variable even at the same restaurants, so it's a good idea to read reviews from other travellers carefully. ChatGPT found us the best ice cream and it was heavenly. We felt the museums, walls etc were very overpriced although it's amazing just walking around. Probably our best experiences were visiting the beaches and islands, the sea is a joy to swim in and you feel like Jacques Cousteau there are so many fish! Beach shoes recommended as the beaches are stony. And the destination is not good for anybody with mobility problems, there are steps everywhere. Zadar is great for day or so but it's small with not too much to do after day 2. There are lots of tourists and it's expensive compared to other places in Croatia that are less crowded and more interesting and have less shops selling fridge magnets. The islands are great but get a local ferry and avoid the tours. Watch out for the cruise ships flooding the town with tour groups. Food is rather repetitive and expensive if you don't like pizza and pasta and it's tough for vegetarians. Sorry if this sounds negative. Durrës is a very diverse city, with both modern buildings and unfinished construction as well as scattered trash. The seafront promenade is long and pleasant, lined with plenty of restaurants and small shops. Public transport is available and inexpensive, with a bus ticket costing 40 lek. Beautiful old town, essential to take a boat trip along the bay to view the majestic mountains. The cable car is also a great activity, not only do you get a view of Kotor Bay but when you get to the top there is a lot to explore. The roads are very busy so it takes a while to get around. Essential to book a taxi before you arrive at the airport as the taxis from there are very expensive. Absolutely amazing scenery.
