The most enjoyable experience was the visit to Hohensalzburg...
The most enjoyable experience was the visit to Hohensalzburg fortress. To really see it properly, I would advise going in the morning, bringing a picnic or snack and spending a few hours there...there is so much to see. Other highlights were the organ recital in Salzburg Cathedral and visiting so many spectacular churches.... St Peter's church was a favourite and the Jesuit church was quite a surprise...so much colour! The Mirabelle gardens were lovely to stroll in and also the walks along the riverside. We were sorry not to get to Schonbrunn Palace, but hope to return to Salzburg, when that will be our No. 1 priority.Guest review byGRAINNEIreland - 10.0

I loved the beauty of Innsbruck and the friendly, kind locals. There was a wine festival and the atmosphere was wonderful with local musicians dressed in Tyrolean outfits and playing delightful music. The shops were great with many beautiful, well-made things to buy. It was delightful to walk into the old town by the river and the water was a gorgeous teal colour. There's a lot of walking.
There's a lot of walking. There's very little parking, so you need to be able to walk everywhere. Beautiful area! We took the pletna boat to the island. There are 99 steps to climb when you get there to see the church, shop, or see the view. Costs extra to go into church and climb to the top. A lot of shopping and restaurants in town. The city is incredibly charming, with a vibe that feels much more Austrian than Italian. It’s also surrounded by plenty of beautiful hikes (which I wish I’d had time to do!). I only stayed for two days, and while one day is enough to see the city itself, the real highlight is exploring the trails and nature nearby. The highlight was of course the Zugspite and the journey...
The highlight was of course the Zugspite and the journey there by train, rack-rail, and cable car. Amazing views from the Zugspitze plateau topped only by the panorama from the peak itself. Given more time we'd have explored the many hiking trails, including the Partnach Gorge, but did manage the short walk to the beautiful pilgrimage church of Wallfahrtskirche St. Anton, not far from our hotel in downtown Partenkirchen.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom
