United StatesWe really enjoyed our one-night stay at this great hotel, so much so that when we were in Schladming again two nights later we booked again. The rooms, while a bit small, are clean and comfortable and have everything you need for a short stay. The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful, especially Barbara. When we left our sunglasses behind in the room she called and emailed us to let us know so we could retrieve them. We can't recommend this hotel enough!

GermanyThe staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was a great size and very clean and comfortable. I wish we could find more of this in our travels across Europe! The breakfast was also vey good! Would stay here everytime we went away if they were in every city we were in! They did speak amazing Eniglish which is always helful although not expected. Parking was close and free even though it was not located on property this was not a problem for us.

Kuchl is a small, but very attractive village about 20 minutes by local train from the Salzburg HBF. I had been cross country skiing there many years ago, and when finding many hotels in Salzburg fully booked or over-priced, we decided to go to Kuchl, and I was impressed by the great reviews on Booking.com, and the hotel turned out to be even better than expected! A hotel of comparable quality in Salzburg would cost at least 5-times as much (and maybe even more). The hotel is attractive in the style of an Austrian village, and although in the valley of the Salzach River, it has amazing views of the high Alps that separate Austria and Germany. Ther are numerous opportunities for hikes in the region, from short easy walks to serious mountain climbing.
However, the best thing about the hotel was the warm, welcoming, friendly staff who provide personal attention. Even though the hotel was not crowded, they provided a full, delicious Austrian breakfast with more options than even the most famous hotels in Austria. They recommended a great restaurant for dinner, which serves both excellent Austrian and Balkan cuisine. The room was reasonably spacious and well equipped, with a nice balcony overlooking the Alps. Furthermore, the hotel is a one minute walk from the train station, with local trains to and from Salzburg leaving every 30 minutes. Except for a few central hotels in Salzburg, it was almost as quick to get to the sites in this city as it is from many hotels in town. I have been to Austria many times, and the Wagnermigl and the town of Kuchl represent the best of traditional Austrian life and local color. I recommend it most enthusiastically!

The hotel is entirely renovated, clean, very kind staff and a restaurant and bar with a great atmosphere. Breakfast was also very good with everything necessary. The room was spacious, comfortable, and with a very nice view.
The spa is small but has all you need and is opened upon request. It was also a great experience. We hope to return soon!

The bed is comfortable with firm mattress for back support. Room was clean. Shower area was big. The hotel gave free summer cards and free parking on Sunday in front of the hotel. Staff were nice and helpful. The restaurant was nice, they also had happy hour on the drinks. Location is very nice, 2 mins walk to Cable car and city center.

It's an absolutely amazing hotel. Amazing food - with lunch included in the price - gorgeous pool and spa area, family-run, traditional yet modern, super kind and helpful staff, straight on the ski slope, beautiful views. This might be the best hotel I ever stayed in for skiing.

The place is both picturesque and beautiful, surrounded by nature. The rooms were big, the interior of the hotel was like one out of a Christmas card, very warm and comforting. We were very pleasantly surprised how great everything was. The food was also very tasty.

We didn't eat out much as accomodation had a very well...
We didn't eat out much as accomodation had a very well equipped kitchen.
Public transport was punctual and free with a Sommer Card provided by our hosts. All lift passes that we used were free also. The only cost was a booking fee for getting up to the Schladming Galcier. (PREPARE TO QUE FOR THIS ONE).
Be aware that shops are closed for religious holidays etc.

Nice old town to walk around.
Nice old town to walk around. Have some nice restaurants like the Indian restaura, Namaste. Very authentic Indian food with good service and atmosphere. Another restaurant is Genusskramerei. This restaurant has a small but exclusive menu. Upmarket.

Golling is a long established small town on the Salzach river and a good base for exploring Salzburg and the nearby hills / mountains. Hotels are in the small town centre plus camping and camper van facilities nearby.
Rail travel to Salzburg and on buses in Salzburg is free for holders of the Tourist Card issued without further charge to people staying at Golling hotels, This facility has recently been extended to other buses and trains over a wider area,
Golling Waterfall and the canyon (Klamm) on the Salzach river attract visitors,
There is a Water Park close to Golling.

One of the most beautiful places on this planet.
One of the most beautiful places on this planet. Easy to get around with the Ramsau am Dachstein Summercard and the bus and gondola systems.
Loved the gondola to the top and the Sky walk, the Stairway to Heaven and the Stairway to Nothingness.
Also liked Rittisberg and its attractions such as the Flyline, toboggan and High Ropes. The Go Karting down 7 kms of the Planai mountain was also fun

The Sommerrodelbahn, The Cable Car, The Postalm Panoramastrasse and the drive through Fischbach. What we highly recommend is a nice walk through the town and surrounding places itself!! This is a very very pretty place.
Where did you eat?
We cooked ourselves. However, we bought groceries at the Spar market in the town.
Is it easy to get around Abtenau?
Yes. The town is very accessible. We, however, did not use the public transport.
What would you avoid on your next visit?
Nothing really. The place offers a lot of things to a tourist!

Filzmoos is one of the most beautiful villages in Austria. The mountains around are exceptional, summer hiking is real joy there. The village has everything- lot of fancy hotels, restaurants, summer terraces, swimming pool.

There's one restaurant in town but the owner is very helpful and it's right across the street. There are many grocery stores in the local towns down below so we brought food to the Gasthof for dinner. The town is great for riding and hiking.

Schladming is not interesting place, but the surroundings - yes. You can find a lot of attractions like ferrara, wander wegs, cycle routes, even rafting and places obligatory to visit: Dachstein Glacier, Planai, Reiter Alm (all supported by lifts). There are some places from the category "must see" like Riesach waterfall or Silberkar Gorge.
