- From $100.41 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 979 reviewsWe booked this place on Airbnb, guided only by the reviews. I didn’t actually read them. I just looked at the pictures of the room. The price, I’d say, was the best value of anything on the entire lake. It was the only place that really seemed to be on the lake, where you could actually do things on the lake, not just look at it. A lot of places you couldn’t even go in the water—no lake access, or maybe just sunbathing. It’s clear a lot of love went into this place when it was built. The whole property is very thoughtfully developed. There’s a distinct yellow and blue color theme throughout—stickers, signage, even the color of the boats. Even the e-bike charger in the bike room was yellow and blue. Yeah, they have a charging station for e-bikes. The umbrellas are yellow. The chairs are blue. There are tons of different room layouts, spread across lots of buildings. We were fortunate—I’d say we had one of the best rooms. It was a little studio layout with a small kitchen. The kitchen was simple but functional. Our studio had doors that opened onto a terrace, fully enclosed by dense ivy—looked like ivy, anyway. From the terrace, you could see out to the lake. And beyond that, the mountains. On the other side? Slovenia. Bathroom was complete—modern and all in one room. Kitchen looked brand new. There’s an espresso machine, but note: you might want to bring some favorite things from home—aluminum foil, plastic zip bags, salt, pepper, spices, etc. They also provided a nice little bottle of champagne (sect), dish soap, and some kitchen supplies. Our room was right near the sauna area—almost part of it. There was a sauna, showers, a small pool to relax in. A tiny fitness area—enough to get the job done. A breakfast buffet was not included—eggs, bacon (crispy, good). They also had: Table tenni, Boats, A DVD collection you could borrow - DVD player in the room.Guest review byAdamAustria
- From $329.71 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 1,044 reviewsThe hotel is excellent, beautifully furnished, exceptionally large rooms with a spacious bathroom and lovely balcony right in the heart of Velden. The spa is very nice and the breakfast was tasty with a wide range of options available. The restaurant is very good and we ate lunch and dinner there also and it was very good. We also took advantage of the free bicycle option and cycled all the way around Lake Worthersee, a very nice trip. Expensive but standard for the location. We didn't use the lake access but were given passes if we had wanted to do so.Guest review byЭмилия АлистеровнаUnited Kingdom
- From $182.92 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 2,916 reviewsEverything was perfect. The room is big enough and has space for two. Everything was clean. We were provided with towels, robes, and a big bag for the swimming pool/sauna. The restaurant at the hotel was nice, all the meals were delicious. There is a café as well which has good coffee. The swimming pools are clean. There is a park nearby and the lake is in a walking distance. Hats off to the staff, all of them were super polite and helpful, fluent in English and German.Guest review byXhesika BanushiAustria

It was all positive, the old buildings, town squares, the old restaurants in the "downtown", the spectacular views and restaurants on the lake, walking around those areas around the lake, the weather and how nice everyone was. Plus we have great friends that live there and they are the best, they showed us around to great places and we had a great time.Guest review byDaveUnited States - 10.0

We caught the train from Pritswich to Portschach which was a very short journey. Their timetables at the station/collection points are so easy to understand. Portschach is a very picturesque place. The houses looked very clean adorned with flowers, very tidy streets. People are very friendly and the majority spoke English. The food was delicious especially the cakes. There was a park area which took you down to the lake. Also a play area for children. We caught the ferry over to Maria Worth and then later, travelled by ferry to Velden.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
The whole area of Worthersee lake is worth visiting.
The whole area of Worthersee lake is worth visiting. It offers a lot of activities for all (tourism, cycling, swimming, water activities). The lake is the warmest in Austria and its water is crystal clear and warm as the summer sea. All the nature around is beautiful and calm.Guest review byGabrielaCzech Republic - 8.0

Reifnitz is a very small village and easy walking distance from Seehaus Gaby. The Strandbad is lovely, with shade trees and sunshine. Swimming is good. We were there during the week and it was quite full.Guest review byLaurieAustria - 10.0
This was possibly the most relaxing break ever.
This was possibly the most relaxing break ever. There is little else here except the fabulous Hotel Linde (and Vivamayr - a detox hotel where celebrities go). The situation right on the lake meant stunning views from the breakfast room and terrace; from the Seebar (Lakeside Bar and Restaurant); and from our balcony. Swimming in the clear water of the lake is a must. The food is exceptional with sushi and sashimi a speciality. The staff too are exceptional and couldn't do enough for us. A two-minute walk brings you to the landing stage of the ferries which ply up and down the lake during the day offering a hop on hop off service for 19 euros per person. Since we were staying at the hotel for 4 nights we got a 50% discount. For Gustav Mahler fans, another must is a visit to his composing hut, where a very knowledgeable curator will give you a detailed history in German or English. An absolutely stunning experience!Guest review byJackyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It was very nice. We enjoyed it here very much. It’s an old castle with fascinating history. At first it was a bit scary, to sleep in a castle, but after a while we fell in love with it. It has some magic about it. We ate in pörtschach in a hawaian restaurant, tasty vegan food. We didn’t try the breakfast. At first look, I felt like running away. At the last one, I felt like I don’t want to leave. It was a unique experience. I’m happy that I experienced this. For sure, if in one word: Extraordinary!Guest review byBarbora - 10.0

Velden am Wörthersee is a captivating gem, easily my favorite lake destination in Austria alongside the charming Klopeiner See. Just a three-hour drive from Vienna, its accessibility makes it a perfect escape for a weekend or longer. The region radiates vitality, with its sparkling lake inviting swimming and water activities, framed by a picturesque backdrop that feels both serene and vibrant. The restaurants and bars here are a delight, offering a rich tapestry of flavors and atmospheres, from cozy lakeside eateries to lively spots buzzing with energy. Whether it’s savoring a meal with a view or enjoying the warm, welcoming vibe of the town, Velden delivers an all-around exceptional experience that feels like summer distilled into a single place.Guest review byNikitaAustria - 10.0

Sadly our hotel could not offer an evening meal as they had a group staying, but there are some excellent restaurants in the town: Pörtschacher Stüble, Sissi’s, Werzers Bootshaus (newly opened in May 2025) and Little Italy were our favourites. The young waitress in Little Italy was a lesson in how to wait at tables-such professionalism and always a big smile! We are in our 70s and less mobile than we once were, but getting around was very easy. The ferry runs all day; we spent many happy hours on it. You can buy a day ticket for about 22 euros and can hop on and off. We bought a weekly ticket for 48 euros and got our money’s worth! We loved it so much that I hesitate to tell people about it! Ryanair flies to Klagenfurt twice a week. From there a 15 minute taxi ride brings you to Pörtschach.Guest review byJackyUnited Kingdom
