I was attracted to staying at the Blue Jacket Motel once I saw the photos of the room on the website. It was our wedding anniversary and we were spending the weekend in the local area. Following a beautiful lunch at Antica in Carcoar we arrived at the Blue Jacket and everything was even better than I imagined. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and arranged, wonderfully comfortable and contained everything we needed. It was clear that a great deal of thought had gone into the refurbishment of the room. An evening sitting drinking the local wine and cheeseboard we brought with us (though more was available in the room), talking and looking out at the view, as we listened to the Nat King Cole record on the record player discovered in the room was simply perfect. This was followed by a very restful night in a perfectly comfortable a spacious bed. This was the most 'hotel' experience I have ever found in a motel in a regional area. Simply perfect! Easily go back there again.

This is top of the range accommodation with regard to everything - its situation, comfort, view, catering (afternoon tea and cake and the sumptuous multi-course breakfast served in a lovely dining room or on the terrace). The hosts, Karen and Shawn, make sure you are as close to heaven as you can be! We can't wait to book another stay.

    A quintessential Australian country town.

A quintessential Australian country town. A lot of money from the 19th century gold rush but a loss of people to the major capitals has had an obvious impact on the people and the businesses. A Saturday night in winter was death by boredom but I'm sure the racing weekends bring a lot of money into the town. Be warned, this is a meat town! Steaks were large and tasty. Would return for the meat alone.

    Mudgee is a fantastic experience

Mudgee is a fantastic experience Heaps of winery’s to visit Great pubs and brewery’s The people are so friendly, like the old days where folk said hi walking down the street Oh wait they actually did say hi 🫶🏻 We ate dinner at the Irish pub. Ribs sensational Ate breaky at a couple of local cafes including ‘The butchers cafe’ yummy! Stayed at ‘The Wandering Grape’ Little Terrace across the road from a beautiful church. So comfortable way better than a motel room. $600 for 2 nights including breakfast Bacon and eggs in the fridge. Bought chocolates at the chocolate shop as gifts Visited the honey factory. Chatted with frank the owner . His son just got married 🍷 One of the best vineyards we visited and will be back for sure was - Mansfield wines All made direct on site ran by 2 brothers with love stories and history to tell. Including the travel to learn how to make wines. His knowledge is exceptional. The wine is amazing. We will be back. 🥰🥂

It was an interesting place to visit. Elvis theme suburb. Motor Museum is a definite place to visit. Also, the dam park, The Thirsty Bushman Cafe, unique as it is placed in front of an antique train. Another place to visit while here is the Memorial Park and the Dish. Although I didn't visit the Dish, I think it would be a great one to visit.

I was off season so with clouds and some rain everything (star gazing) was cancelled just hour before they commenced. There is nothing else to do here, 6hrs to turn around and go home. The landscape is the same as the rest of country NSW, nothing special to see here. No activities, no nice places to dine or breakfast. You can see clear sky's and stars from almost any country town or camp off the populated areas. The Sydney Observatory has a better experience come rain or shine. Nothing special, actually very boring and disappointing. Save yourself a long road trip and avoid unless it's clear and you happen to be passing through.

We loved the friendliness of the locals who were very eager to help. We visited the Japanese Gardens which were beautiful and tranquil. Played golf at the Cowra Golf Course which was reasonably priced, visited a number of coffee shops all recommended by the locals and had a meal at The Railway Hotel off their specials night which lucky for us was Thursday $20 steak night. Cowra is worth a visit.
