Very easy to navigate and get around. We walked a short display to Fortitude valley train station and made our way to South Bank for less than $5 for 2 adults and 3 kids. Had the best time at Sth Bank park and man made pool, then a great dinner, drinks and live music at a pub 5min walking distance from the pool, easy walk back to train station. 3 happy exhausted kids and 2 happy adultsGuest review byDianaAustralia - 10.0

There really isn’t much to see in downtown Cairns. To enjoy it, you have to go out to the islands, but this always requires paying a high price, and there aren’t many options in terms of timing. I would instead recommend staying briefly at a resort on one of the islands and then returning. Kuranda and the other rainforests were more developed as tourist attractions than I expected. A very interesting and multi-cultural town with a diverse range of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and shops, a very large country town that also hosts a wonderful flower show mid-September. Also an amazing new airport just out of town called Wellcamp indicates this is an elevated - go ahead - rural town with some lovely real estate features, great schools and landmark views over the Lockyer Valley. In fact the other "table land towns" Dalby, Warwick, Stanthorpe and many. many more provide a great insight into rural Australia. Honestly it is a beautiful part of the world, so many amazing sites and places to explore. During our trip it was very busy so I would definitely recommend booking for dinner ahead of time as it was too full for us to get in anywhere however the Thai restaurant made a plan for our group and they were phenomenal.
