Over a week I spent a couple of days in the city, a couple of days on Kangaroo Island, then rented a car and visited Glenelg, Coorong and Barossa Valley. I had no idea South Australia was so wonderful!! I look forward to my next visit 😀
Port Augusta is a convenient location to take a break and stay overnight before you move onto your next destination when taking a long road trip around South Australia.
Loved the central market, and the city itself. South Australian people were very helpful and went out of their. Way to accommodate us. Lovely people. Thank you
Milang is a nice, quiet little town right on Lake Alexandrina on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. While not as popular or as big as Victor Harbor, it is within easy driving distance to many amazing places to see, and it is only two hours from Adelaide and Barossa Valley. We visited interesting places such as Cape Jervis, Normanville, Victor Harbor, Harndorf amongst others. Roads around the peninsula are excellent.
A lovely city, easy to get around, although I did find the buses a bit unreliable and confusing as some routes tended to stop running early afternoon, which prevented me going to some places outside the city due to the fear of not being able to get back! Free buses around city are good, although these were often late (waited 40 mins due to a bus not turning up) Tram to Glenelg is good, takes about 40 minutes and stops right on sea front. City is surrounded by parklands and all streets are lined with trees a beautiful place to live! Excellent shopping centre at Rundle Mall and a lot of attractions are within the cities square mile (museum, art gallery, botanical gardens, zoo etc..) The old Adelaide Gaol and Cleland Wildlife Park are both excellent places to visit. Further out Victor Harbour and the horse drawn tram to Granite Island is a must! Will def be coming back to South Australia!
Gorgeous city in the beautiful state of South Australia. Lots to do and see and a short trip to the world famous Barossa Valley and Kangaroo Island. Can’t imagine that anyone would not enjoy visiting this special part of such a wonderful country.
We loved our trip to Coober Pedy. The jouney into remote South Australia was our destination. When we got there we were not disappointed. Accommodation was funky and fun and our host was divine. The sights were interesting and quirky. Wish we had had more time there.
I was here with my husband and son to explore South Australia historical sites as well as to know more about the vines and the local people in Clare. Clare is awesome with beautiful sceneries and vineyards. There are also small roads that take you to these scenic routes. Hence, if you are renting a car, avoid the gravel road by planning the route earlier. We stopped by at Martindale Hall and experience a step back in time to the days of upper class lifestyle on a large pastoral estate late in the 1800’s to early 1900’s. This unique living museum is a must for a visitor in Clare. We also visited Bungaree Station, 13 minutes drive from Clare town. It was once a small village with its sandstone Homestead, Woolshed, Shearers’ Quarters, Station Store, Manager’s House, District Council Chambers, staff cottages and a Church. I met the 5th generation of Hawker's family during the visit and was touched with the life of his predecessors during the early days of the settlement. We overnite in a cabin at Discovery Park, 5 minutes before the Clare town and had our dinner in Indii of Clare, an Indian Restaurant in the town. The food was delicious with reasonable price. The staff were friendly and helpful too. I must say that Clare Valley is a nostalgic and peaceful place and I had a memorable experience here.
Beautiful city with country feel , easy to to drive in especially as we stay at the Pullman Adelaide has everything to offer great restaurants the central markets are awesome with most of south Australia’s fresh produce sold there
Easy to get around, beautiful older buildings, great eating places and bars, felt like a big sophisticated country town. Can recommend a visit to the Adelaide Oval if there’s a sporting event on, the Art Gallery of South Australia, and the National Wine Centre If you enjoy wine. Try Pauls in Gouger Street for fish and chips!

Staying at the Dairyman's Cottage was one of the highlights of our South Australia trip. Micheal was a lovely host, he gave us a tour of the farm and let us experience feeding pigs and milking cows. We really enjoyed his fresh produce, especially the mushroom and the fresh milk. The room was also clean and exactly like the photos. If you planning to visit Barossa Valley I would highly recommend staying at the Dairyman's Cottage.
Port Lincoln
The unit was spacious, modern, quiet and probably the nicest place we stayed at in South Australia. Our view wasn't as lovely as some people have mentioned because it looked out to ships docked in the distance but it was interesting, plus the shore was so very close. Absolutely no complaints with staying here (the parking is more comment than complaint) and it will be our first choice when we return to Port Lincoln.
Keith
Don’t stay here unless you want to be sad! Why do I say that? The place was so comfortable and Helena was so kind, like my own grandmother, that I didn’t want to leave!! When I left I felt that I was leaving a friend behind :( Everything in the room showed thoughtful touches and Helena made sure I had everything I could possibly need. The most wonderful place I stayed at during my 10 day trip to South Australia.
The glamping tents were different and the interior is beautiful. The location was beautifully landscaped by the owner. Also it’s located in one of the best wine regions in South Australia. The toilets are easily accessible. The owner chook was friendly and welcoming. She gave us all instructions on which wineries to go visit with a map. 😀 Loved the stay and might come back for a summer camping experience.
As our flight had been delayed we had to phone ahead to let the Parador know we wouldn't be there before reception closed at 10pm. They made arrangements for us to access the room out of hours and were very helpful about it. We stayed at either end of our trip to South Australia and we would definitely stay there again. Having a shuttle to the airport was a bonus.
Lyndoch
We booked this as part of our trip to South Australia for our wedding anniversary. Very high quality accommodation with everything we needed to help us celebrate. Complimentary inclusions including materials for continental and/or cooked breakfast and snacks. Plus a bottle of wine! Fantastic hosts who helped with advice for sightseeing and restaurants.
Location is perfect, a brand new hotel and accommodation in Murray Bridge, great sized rooms, very comfortable bed. Having real milk in the fridge, chocolates on arrival in the room using all South Australian produce, such wonderful touches. Restaurant food and all staff were fantastic. Outstanding will be staying again.
Port Lincoln
Beautifully presented properly. Close to all facilities. Trina, our host was really easy to deal with and was very helpful. Unfortunately for us we only had 2 of our 4 days there due to lockdowns by Victoria and South Australia. We will definitely stay at Laguna View again when we resume our South Australia trip!
Emu Bay
Super location and view with a pleasant walk to Emu Beach. Great relaxing environment to begin our South Australian holiday (on Kangaroo Island). Good 'kick off' point for day trips around the island and close to grocery store. Owners were very helpful. Super cooking facilities.
Victor Harbor
Photos of South Australia and paintings on walls. Pleasant surprise of bakery goods on reception . Really was pet friendly. Took us seniors a little while to work out how to use the fancy convection/microwave oven and coffee maker. Felt spoilt with all the new appliances.
Port Elliot
Very friendly and professional people. Wonderful location and great value for money. Great walks along the beach, excellent hotel down the road: great food; lots of things to do if you have time. South Sea Books in Pt Elliot is one of the best bookshops in South Australia.
Normanville
Everything was exceptional at the Log Cabin. The decor was beautiful and everything was at your fingertips. Nothing was spared. There is no view but the beach is so close. Our favourite beach in South Australia.
Goolwa
This is a heritage property in a heritage town in South Australia. It is one of the best properties we have stayed in and so well equipped that I wish ever property was like this.
Nice hotel in a very nice part of South Australia. Spacious and comfortable room, nice gardens and pool, good food, reasonable prices. Essentially a good hotel for a motel cost.
Renmark
Really nice facilities - roomy, clean, close to the river and shops - and really good price point for an overnight stop heading to South Australia.
