Townsville is great to walk around & get the feeling of the city. I stayed in Townsville city and walked all the way to Pallarenda Beach 8 kms each way.. which was great. (There was a City Bus available - just as back up for me..) Cycling would be great - I plan to take my bicycle next time so I can discover even more.. is less time. Other Townsville highlights * The Marina * The Tobruk Swimming Pool * Jezzine Barracks was really to visit. * Castle Hill - Day & Night visit is worth it! * The Townsville Railway Station.Guest review bySaviour - 10.0

Absolutely loved Charters Towers.
Absolutely loved Charters Towers. From the little cafe’s and country hospitality to taking a drive to the weir and exploring the city we loved it. We did the Long Horn tour, took dinner up to the lookout and saw the rock wallabies. During the day we checked out the war bunkers and walked the town. Checked out the wall of history and the big world map. All the old buildings are beautiful. Such great mining history. Magnetic Island is beautiful with bush trails to many beaches and vantage points. The flora is wonderfully diverse with giant banyan trees, tropical plants, vines and gum trees - wild koalas are easy to spot on some of the trails. The vibe is low key and nicely humble and it's very easy to get to via Townsville and a short ferry ride. You don't need a car as the bus runs regularly across the island to all the best places. A great little town. Plenty to see and do. Interesting shops as well as the usual supermarkets. There was a variety of playgrounds and a water park at the swimming pool. Cardwell is made for adventure lovers.You can do bushwalks like Attie Creek Falls,hike the Dalrymple Gap track,swim in the Cardwell Spa pool and at Five Mile Creek.Talk to the staff at the visitors centre as they are really helpful and you can see the museum at the same time.Murray Falls was well worth a drive north and you can also do a 1.8km walk to a lookout at the top of the falls.Don't forget the Hinchinbrook Channel Lookout at the start of the Cardwell Forest Drive.Guest review byPeterAustralia - 10.0

By taking our car over on the barge we could travel around the island to the different beaches. It has some lovely places to see, some can only be accessed by car.
