Food and service at Sani was very good. Train journey to Plovdiv good and very cheap. Trail walks good. Asenovgrad is changing rapidly, new buildings generally look really good. I think every Bulgarian must visit the Museum of Vasil Levski - it is kind of mandatory, we are obliged as descendants of those brave men. The other place that charmed us was a restaurant called "Едно време" (Once Upon a Time). Visited for hiking to Balkan Mts, Botev Peak. Enjoyed our stay and the mountain. Imposing Socialist monument at the centre of the town. Nice restaurant at the very center. Nice draft beer and nice surrounding. Other restaurants of Kalofer were closed at the afternoon. We were surprised with the road network of Bulgaria which is in very good condition. Perushtitsa is a small picturesque town, located at the outskirts of Rhodope Mountains. There are several tourist trails that start from the center of the town to the nearby mountains. Perushtitsa played a key part in Bulgarian history during the 1876 uprising against the Ottoman rule and during the Unification of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia. There is a museum at the center of the town and several historical places in the city. Plovdiv deserves 3 full days. It has so much to offer. Visit the old houses in the old town / you have 6- 7 of them/ and galleries. Walk the cobbeled streets and the old farmacy and numerous restaurans. See the Roman ruins spread around town. Anciant amfitheater.VISIT THE BASILICA with huge mosaics.
