August was a bit cold still (15C during the night, 20C during the day), and a bit rainy. But I believe September would be the perfect time to visit. City is known more from theme park (Beto Carrero) than any...
City is known more from theme park (Beto Carrero) than any other thing, but still has plenty of options if you're travelling by car. Public transport is almost inexistent (a trully nightmare), so avoid going by bus or prepare yourself to waste hours trying to move around. There are many beaches on the surroundings (unfortunately, we can't enjoy most of them due to weather conditions), and city is near to many other touristic attractions (like the cities of Balneario Camboriú [30min south, by car], Joinville [about 1 hour north] and Navegantes [where you can find paragliding practice at Morro do Careca]). In Armação do Itapocorói, we can find supermarkets and some restaurants open at least until 22h. Route to and from the city is very straight forward, you can travel on BR-101 (the highway) or by ferry boat (recommended if highway has heavy traffic, but not in normal conditions [it works 24h]). We had dinner at a very good pizza carvery called "Top Haus" (in Navegantes) and a Peruvian restaurant called Salsa Brava (in Itajaí) - we highly recommend both of them!Guest review bySidnei, SPBrazil - 8.0

Joinville is well worth a visit. A city of Germanic culture and arquitecture, good coffee/teashops, good food, good local beer (OPA) friendly people, it has plenty to offer the visitor. One can do a walking city tour of some of the city main historic and modern attractions. Close (1 hour or less by car) to some of Santa Catarina’s coastal beaches and towns, Joinville is arguably the capital of best health care in the South of Brazil and, in some particular cases, best in the country The city is a proud home of Sadalla Amin Ghanem Eye Hospital, long established as the top Eye Hospital in South America with international reputation recognised as world reference in eye care. This hospital has impressive top class facilities and equipment and an equally impressive medical body of specialists in every eye condition. People travel across the world to come here for eye treatment and surgery. It is indeed the very top in the field. Service there is very efficient and impressive. It is a great location to go to if ride motorcycles: you will always find a friendly mate to talk to and share experiences. It is easy to get there from Florianópolis, the road is beautiful. Urubici is surrounded by amazing roads and spots to stop by and take advantage of the view (Morro da Igreja, Serra do Corvo Branco, waterfalls...). Florianópolis is a very large city spread out all over the island. Centro is convenient but fairly boring. The north is much more fun and touristic. The south is more calm and nature oriented. The east is relaxing low traffic and great beaches for surfing and less busy than the north. The north side has more areas characteristic of rio beaches with vendors and rentals everywhere (plus crowding). The east has less of that. Balneário Camboriú it's a wonderful place . A great beach , very nice the brasilian people, they will help you kindly, and friendly. The beach is very large about 5 miles . Nice downtown, unfortunately surrounded with big highway. But the carnaval a downtown was great. Rest of the island is perfect, we visited Mosambique beach, Lagoon and had great time here. Boat trips, trails in jungle, monkeys and other local animals, perfect. In jungle are some poisonous snakes, so it's good to watch under feets ;). It's small town nothing new really the beach it's ok it has few restaurants on the Avenida Atlantica but, it's ok there beaches near by like bombihas which it is nice to visit . Itapema it's horrible nothing to do there , itaji same thing it old city . It's ok to stay for a few days BC it's nice place to meet other people during the summer time in Brazil .
