- From $123.01 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very Good - What previous guests thought, 479 reviewsThis place exceeded my expectations. We needed a pet friendly place as we wrapped up the cabot trail. Iona wasn't exactly on our route, but not too far off. The room was super clean, tidy, well thought out and tastefully decortated. We were on the upper lever with a little balcony with a lovely view. The beds and linens were super comfortable. There is a restaurant as well that offers take away (travelling with our dog means patios and take away) and the food was great (excellent seafood chowder). Service was outstanding; check-in, the restaurant, check out. I would say the location caters to people on the move as opposed to a long stay but there's a basketball court and i saw some soccer nets on the lawn if kids need entertaining. The Highland Village is also next door, and looks like a great family activity.Guest review byJuliaUnited States
- From $150.19 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.9Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 33 reviewsI had such a memorable stay at Cabot shores. Special kudos to Sunny, Kritika and Rutwik for making me and my family feel at home. They also helped me with checkin date adjustment as i had an emergency. They went above and beyond to help us with our requests starting from getting our room ready early, providing a detailed overview of property to arranging food, helping with ad hoc requests such as hot water. The food is soooo yum (chickpea and pasta). The property is set in wilderness, very scenic with a nice beach where you reach by pulling rope over a small boat - great experience! Very close to igonish too. The only down is limited washroom esp for bath but overall i highly recommend this place to anyone!Guest review byGauravIndia

The cottages are beautiful and kept exceptionally clean. Thanks again for helping us make memories !! We made good use of the front area lobby, we built a fire in the big fireplace. in our rented cottage we loved the whirl pool tubs! They are so nice to relax in after a busy day.Guest review byKrystalCanada

Perfect for sunset from the swimming pool terrace. We didn't eat here or play golf, but it was perfect, comfortable, clean, and friendly service!! Petty touristy town on the shores of a large lake.
Petty touristy town on the shores of a large lake. Available public parking is horrible as there are too many cars for the available parking. The Bell museum is definitely a must see and worth a couple of hours visit. The boat cruise on the Ameba is a very peaceful afternoon activity. The town can be a base for day trips elsewhere if you are lucky enough to have nice lodging. Terrific breakfast and dinner at the Freight Shed Terrace. Many shops and restaurants are close by and walkable.Guest review byNormanUnited States - 8.0

When I left (For the second year running) there are no facilities to obtain refreshments if you have a long wait. (I arrived because of check out time 11:30 and the flight did not leave until 16:45) That is a long wait without the ablitly to have some refreshments.Guest review byAnthonyUnited Kingdom - 6.0
We ate dinner at Le Gabriel Restaurant.
We ate dinner at Le Gabriel Restaurant. There was entertainment Sunday evening at the restaurant. A woman played the fiddle and a man accompanied her on a keyboard. They were excellent. Seafood prices are very high. The place was very busy and the food was good. Getting around Cheticamp is easy. We enjoyed driving along the entire Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island. The Cape Breton Highlands Provincial Park was closed because of high fire danger.Guest review bylewis - 8.0
We LOVED our accommodations, the quiet and the beach!
We LOVED our accommodations, the quiet and the beach! Most restaurant food was very good. Loved whale watching and the gondola. Would have like a continental breakfast as there were no restaurants within walking distance. Also, restaurants close too early and many ran out of food so decided to close! 150 people at the pizza place (because no place else was open with availability) on a Sunday wasn’t fun.Guest review byMaryCanada - 10.0
Port Hood is a charming town with amazing views of the bay.
Port Hood is a charming town with amazing views of the bay. The nearby Clove Hitch Bar & Bistro had a delicious dinner selection. The towns of Mabou and Inverness have many restaurants and small shops to visit and both have lovely beaches. Inverness Beach was highly recommended for its spectacular sunsets and the sunset was breathtaking. We liked The Corner Store by miss brenna in Inverness, which had a nice variety of snacks, baked goods and even lemonade from France! We enjoyed our dinner at The Red Shoe in Mabou. The lookout points along the Cabot Trail to Cape Breton Highlands National Park provide breathtaking views. The Park itself is worth visiting for hikes, especially the Skyline Trail, which we did not complete as it was quite hot that day.Guest review byElizabethUnited States - 8.0
Lovely place. Scenery great.
Lovely place. Scenery great. Food at Main Street Restaurant was very good, deserts were extremely good but expensive. Cape Smokey Gondola was very interesting with great view from the top. The Gondola was a little expensive for someone who only went up and down after seeing the view. There were some trails but didn't seem to be well marked.Guest review byreginaldCanada - 10.0

Louisbourg is a small oceanside town with LOTS of history and beauty. Be sure to visit the Lighthouse on the other side of the harbour. The scenic walking trail (easy walking) is incredible. Just parking at the trailhead and getting out to view the lighthouse is beautiful. And of course, the Fortress of Louisbourg is must do !Guest review bySusan Walker BaldwinCanada - 8.0
This was our second trip to North Sydney.
This was our second trip to North Sydney. This trip we used as bookends to our ferry trip to and from Newfoundland. This is a quiet little town, surrounded by incredible beauty. The Black Spoon is a must if you enjoy good food. Friendly people and lots to do. NS would be a good home base for exploring the area.Guest review bydavcmoUnited States - 6.0

A bit pricey for what you get but options in the area for what we needed were limited. Restaurant onsite with good menu and great service was very convenient for us, especially after some long days travelling and hiking. Loved parking right at our door as it allowed for easy unloading and loading. Our room was towards the back away from the main road which was quieter than other places we stayed. Disappointed that I didn’t check the details of the listing before I booked to see if it had a microwave and fridge, which it did not. TV was miniature but we didn’t use anyway. Internet was spotty when both of us were trying to use it. Shower was wonky and whole room could have been upgraded with a few things while still keeping the charm. bed was not to my liking —- a bit hard—-ended up not sleeping much. All in all it was ok for one night and the restaurant was a huge bonus but I would see if there are other options next time.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0
Good spot for sunsets. Very small town off the Cabot Trail.
Good spot for sunsets. Very small town off the Cabot Trail. Therefore very few restaurants. They also close early in the shoulder season so good to keep in mind. The main restaurant was Belles and it had a good selection on the menu. The lobster roll was okay and the seafood chowder good.Guest review byDavidUnited States
