Probably would’ve stayed closer to the city but it was an interesting experience. You’re out in the country! There’s a working farm on the property with bison. It’s off the beaten path but beautiful with hiking trails. Our room with a view was big with comfortable bedding and a thick robe for going to the shared bathrooms. The free ride from Hotel to Airport was seamless. The hotel provides a free ticked which can be used in the bus and train. Take Bus 50 from Basel Airport which takes you to the train station at Basel. Check the platform number. There is a direct service to Liestal or a train with 3 stops and you get off at the 4th. 5 minutes to hotel Engel. Lots of eating places and people very friendly.Guest review bySheelaAustralia - 10.0

Bottmingen is a very nice, quiet place, with plenty of restaurants and bars. For us, we wanted somewhere between Basel and where our relatives live in Biel Benken, so was very well placed for us. Bottmingen is a great neighbourhood to stay outside Basel. It has an efficient tram link to the centre, but it is much quieter. The municipal pool at Bottmingen is superb and very well run.
