Don’t let the word “tents” mislead you. These are beautifully appointed bungalows that happen to feature tent-inspired rooflines and windows as an elegant nod to desert camping. Inside, you’ll find simple luxury: a spacious bathroom with double sinks, separate WC with bidet, rain shower with excellent water pressure, and a gorgeous large soaking tub. The interior showcases beautifully hewn desert wood and ceramic artworks that connect you to the local landscape, while maintaining sophisticated comfort.
Maria’s design philosophy is genius—rustic minimalism that amplifies rather than competes with the desert’s natural serenity. The first morning, I woke to a perfectly framed view of an extinct Andean volcano, positioned like a living painting in my window. As the sun rose through that same frame, I realized this wasn’t just a lovely accommodation— it was theater designed by nature and enhanced by human artistry.
Maria and Pablo, the hosts and owners, have transformed hospitality into an art form. They have created something remarkable: a culture of genuine care that permeates every interaction. This goes far beyond standard luxury service. When I mentioned interests in birdwatching, wellness, and astronomy, they didn’t just nod politely—they arranged personalized experiences that became trip highlights.
Maria even arranged a visit to a local ceramicist’s desert studio, connecting us more deeply to the artisanal culture reflected throughout the property’s design.

CanadaThe place was super cute and well located. There was ample parking on the street and even though we left for a few days, we had the reception look out for the car while away. It’s a great room and we loved that we had our own kitchen and that breakfast was provided and we made it whenever we got up. The receptionist also helped us out immensely with filling out some forms that we needed last minute and was always happy to help us out with whatever we requested.

San Pedro de Atacama was one of the most beautiful surprises from the 65 countries I’ve visited. I can’t recommend it enough. Nature is truly at its finest here, with breathtaking contrasts everywhere you look -- from otherworldly landscapes to serene lagoons and dramatic geysers. They waited me long time during check-in, even there is no customer in the middle of night. Their credit card machined didn't work, they asked me cash. I offered them to pay with USD but then they directed me another lobby to make this operation. That was totally mess. In addition my corridor was noisy at 5AM in the morning. I came to Calama for a day to take the Chuquicamata Mine...
I came to Calama for a day to take the Chuquicamata Mine tour and didn't do much else. It is a modern city with very an efficient public transportation system. It was a real hardship to find information on how to book the tour. The Edificio Caldelco website was totally inadequate in directing visitors on the process of reserving. This is a charming little town with lots of character. It is also central to many wonderful tourist attractions, with many tour agent offices in town available to assist with activity planning.
