Breakfast was absolutely excellent. The owner was absolutely lovely and very friendly. They also recommended Alex the guide who took me out to lake Tarapoto, the sloth island, an excellent night walk and to a local village all for an excellent price. Even with him only speaking Spanish and my grasp of the language being very little, we still had excellent conversation and he was great company. Would highly recommend this Refugio Maiku Puerto Nariño as a place from which to launch your Amazon adventures.

Carlos is a great host and cares a lot about the guests. He offers good tours at a reasonable price. Its located outside of Puerto Nariño, but the staff offers rides from or to Puerto Nariño. Fully recommend!

However, it's a quick and easy bus ride right into the center, and it's near a lot of the jungle attractions like Reserva Omagua and Parque Mundo Amazonico. Plus, you couldn't ask for better more welcoming hosts!

The property is beautiful – spacious, rustic in the best possible way, and maintained to an impressively high standard for this region. What stood out most was the discreet and attentive staff: always present when needed, without ever being intrusive. You can feel they genuinely care about the well-being of their guests. All tours were organized directly through the hotel – smoothly, reliably, and tailored to our preferences. Transportation was also fully taken care of, which made everything stress-free. The meals were freshly prepared with care and love – a lovely touch that added to the overall experience. The pool was a great spot to relax after our adventures in the jungle. No request was ever turned down – we truly felt at home. One thing is certain: the next time we return to the Amazon, we will stay here again!

The rooms are comfortable and the hammocks are a great way to unwind after a long day. Leo took us on amazing adventures and when conflicts with scheduling happened, he saw to it that we were well taken care of. He speaks some English and we speak some Spanish, but it was only a small obstacle and it didn’t take away from the tours. Leo is incredibly patient and knowledgeable about the area and Elizabeth is an amazing cook. It felt like they had included us as family during our stay. Thank you for taking such great care of us during our adventure. We would recommend this stay to anyone.
