Nestled in the Colombian Andes, this colorful town is surrounded by breathtaking views of lush green mountains and the shimmering expanse of the Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir. Whether you’re climbing the iconic El Peñol rock for panoramic vistas, strolling through the vibrant streets adorned with ornate zócalos, or gliding across the serene lake on a boat tour, every moment in Guatapé is infused with charm. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, soak in the scenery, and feel genuinely connected to nature and local life. However, the only negative to say is that many roads are not paved, which is due to the government's and private conflicts, for such a tourist area is a shame to see that. Santa Fe is a beautiful old town, with truly original Spanish colonial architecture. Really better explored by walking, or maybe a 3 wheel motorized cart, or motorcycle, but not by car. There is very little parking, and the narrow roads in the old center don't accommodate 4 wheel vehicles. We found excellent restaurants using Google maps, inexpensive to very affordable.
