The hotel which is a new construction, seamlessly blends modernity with the town’s classic infrastructure. The staff is incredibly friendly, and while the parking lot is spacious, it’s limited. But the highlight of our stay was the breakfast! It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve ever had in Villa de Leyva. Rooms are very big; ours said it could have 4 people. I thought it was too much for us, but it was perfect for a couple while being big enough to enjoy. The view from the room is incredible. The bathroom is very modern to rest and enjoy. Despite the heavy rain that poured on our night of stay, we couldn’t hear anything from the bed not the rain or neighbors, only when I went to the bathroom at midnight I realize it was raining. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to disconnect and rest with a great breakfast.

The Hotel Hacienda Baza is a gem. The hotel itself, a treasure, great location and the amazing gardens bring peace, aliveness and great enjoyment. The in-house restaurant is a delight that provides the most delicious meals, set in a beautiful dining room near the pool, and in where in the evening you could dine with candles. Ms. Lucia, the amazing and beautiful owner who perfectly restored this gem for her, her staff and the guests is very friendly and interesting. Ms. Marlene is the best welcoming manager who is also in charge to make you feel at home, and also in charge of the beautiful designed and perfectly maintained gardens. Will always recommend this rare treasure.

Costa Azul is a family owned business focused on outstanding personal service and enabling visitors to learn and experience the area's rich cultural traditions and history. The Saturday night cultural gastronomical experience which features dancing, preparation of empanadas "from scratch", and learning about the area's history and culture, led by the facility's proprietors, was particularly noteworthy. From the moment we arrived until checkout, we felt like honored guests being hosted on a family manor. This was one of my best weekend getaway experiences and I highly recommend staying at Costa Azul Glamping.

Hotel Casa Terra is a small beautiful hotel, with lovely architecture following the design and the history of Villa de Leiva, with a small well designed and pleasant garden, where breakfast is served on strategically located tables that allow for privacy in a lovely open space under the trees. Service is personalized, friendly and efficient. We fully enjoyed our stay in Villa de Leiva in this small and exceptional hotel.

Amazing town in Colombia, much more to do than in Barichara, for example, even though that town has its own magic too. Villa de Leyva has a lot of stores offering a variety of goods and prices. It is safe at night, the traditional architecture and roads take you back and the desert is just something unique. There are fun and interesting sites around, like animal farms and archeological sites. Fun for all family.

I know Tunja well as I am an art historian and very interested in its historical sites. It has many "hidden treasures" in churches and small museums. It is also very close to small towns outside Tunja, such as Oicatá, which are totally worth it! Highly recommend.

✔ Paipa Cheese Experience: it's delicious ✔ La Lupe Mexican Restaurant: very generous portions and nice owner ✔ Club Nautico: kayaking and wakeboarding on the lake for a good price ✔ Hiking: just going on a long walk circumnavigating the lake. ✘ Thermal Waters: I've been there before, but this time it was overpriced and the pool was crowded and kind of disgusting with grime all over the walls because they didn't clean it properly.

We arrived by bike coming over the high plains (Paramo).

We arrived by bike coming over the high plains (Paramo). It was a beautiful ride. Duitama isn't a tourist destination, really. It's just another nice town in Boyacá. We wree en route from Santa Marta to Bogotá, and I was drawn to the place by something inside. What we wanted was peace & quiet after many nights in noisy locations. It fit the bill. I had clutch problems with my bike, and José friend personally guided me to a good mechanic. The mechanic and I are also now in communication as he is travelling north towards Honduras by camper van soon. In a very short stay, we met a few quality people.

I liked most the variety on clay art. You can find a huge of pieces that represent the ancestral art of potteries made with clay. Also, you can find clothes. During Holy week Ráquira is crowded becaude of sacral ceremonies and some peasants are catholic. We recommended to be careful with natural environment!

The town is cute with historical charm - just like many other places in Boyaca.. However, due to the high mountain elevation - the weather tends to be rainy and cold. There are some nice restaurants, and (of course) lots of soccer balls, but otherwise, I would suggest one of the many other picturesque and more ambient towns in Boyaca..
