Xylofagou is a perfect starting point for excursions to discover the beautiful island. There are several good restaurants, the sea and the beaches are close and can be easily reached by car within 10 minutes. Xylofagou is not very touristic and offers the opportunity to dive into the real Cyprus life, not into the very touristic nightlife which is offered around Agia Napa. We fell in love with Cyprus and with Xylofagou and hope we will be able to come back one day. The city is vibrant and full of tourists. If you're looking for the great destination for partying Ayia Napa is for you otherwise go out of the town or to Protaras which is not far from Ayia Napa. Protaras is a lively resort with plenty of hospitality venues along "the strip" and a wonderful 6kms boardwalk which was the reason for my visit for the BOARDWALK MUSIC FESTIVAL and full lunar eclipse of the moon. It has a great vibe for all ages and is very clean unlike Limassol where I live. There are plenty of activities and places to visit away from the sunbeds. Protaras is a very plesant place. The boardwalk along the beach has many bars and places to eat. All very family and child friendy. Menus are similar, with seafood being delicious and well priced. 2 sunbeds and an umbrella are under ten euros a day. The beaches are clean and the ocean is clear and warm. Many boat trips to choose from. Not many other excursions. Prob best to hire a car to see a bit more yourself.
