The settings was absolutely stunning. The Stradhotel is like a dream come true. From gorgeous views of the beach to restaurants near the water serving quick meals with a view. The resort was top notch. We rode the electric bikes through the woods and around a nearby castle! We even rode past a pair of beautiful horses grazing next to the fence. The breakfast was over the top serving Mimosa with an elaborate array of meats, eggs and breads.

Bathing Beaches, Fishing Villages and University Towns

Stretching from Ahlbeck in the East to Flensburg in the West, the German Baltic Sea region is a popular destination renowned for its sandy beaches, fishing villages and seaports. From university towns through to seaside spas, it is rich in attractions and things to do.

To the east of the region, there is the Usedom Island, a popular spot with wide beaches and plenty of little spa towns, where the mighty of this world used to come in the old days. Germany’s largest island, Rügen, is just north-west from Usedom and features stunning chalk cliffs and varied natural life.

The German Baltic Sea region offers an abundance of bathing beaches and natural reserves, with Jasmund National Park and Western Pomerania Lagoon National Area, just off Zingst. For a taste of a more cosmopolitan atmosphere, try visiting the cities of Kiel, Lubeck and Rostock.

All 3 of them offer some major attractions, from the Warnemünde suburb in Rostock and Medieval architecture of Lubeck to the magnificent port of Kiel, where you can attend the world’s largest sailing event, the Kieler Woche.

All along the coast of the German Baltic Sea, Booking.com offers a wide variety of accommodation including 5-star luxury hotels to friendly guest houses and comfortable apartments.

The hotel has extremely friendly and professional staff, from housekeeping to service they employ many people, all of them exceptionally friendly. The view onto the marina and the ocean bay beyond is spectacular, no road anywhere near. The structure seems to be solidly built - you do not hear your next door neighbour or their bathroom. The sauna is neat, looks out onto the same bay. Breakfast is served from 7 to 11 and caters to every need. The restaurant serves deliciously cooked food, including a vegan dish. Three days were expensive but singularly relaxing and refreshing.

Lubeck is superb for its literary (Gunter Grass and Thomas Mann)and historic interest ( terrific museum of Hanseatic trading associatioons)not to mention the Xmas markets and marzipan and the churches and museums ..was a bit disappointed that the Thomas Mann Buddenbrooks house is not yet ready to reopen for visitors till 2029 or something like that..but there's an exhibition in the museums to keep visitors informed about Thomas Mann ..the churches have wonderful monuments and art inspite of the awful ww2 damage ..also great cafes and restaurants.. you can't eat at the Kartoffel Cellar unless booked several years ahead!! So we didn't go there..they need to open another branch! Niedeggers Marzipan and Cakes and Coffee delicious..we went when the Xmas markets were on which are great fun and did the boat trip on the Canal and Travemunde..would like to visit in summer and see what it's like on the beaches..it was too wet and raining this time to walk far onthe beaches..we had a great lunch on the boat to Travemunde and took the bus back to Lubeck ..we also went to the opera and saw Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck..we should have visited the puppet theatre show and the magic show but ran out of time!

We didn't know much about the East/West German divide so we were nervous about visiting Rostock. However, it was a pleasant, clean, safe town. We walked everywhere. There were nice parks, a wonderful museum and the St Mary's cathedral (first mentioned in 1232) had an astronomical clock that was a feat of engineering and upon striking 12 noon a procession of small wooden figures rotated around the top. We were impressed with the history of the place. The museum had a display about WWII and it was only in German, however we were able to scan large paragraphs of the display to the phone and download a German translation pack to be able to read it. We ate in several little establishments. We always got correct change back from our bills, unlike other places in Europe where you have to be really cautious with your money. I even tried the local Rostock beer!

We love the German and minority Danish populations. The shop owners and people we met were always friendly.

I visited Warnemünde mainly for the beach, and it was exactly what I hoped for. It’s a small town with everything you need — quiet, safe, and easy to walk around. The food is great, the people are calm and friendly, and there’s none of the noisy or unpleasant atmosphere you sometimes find in bigger tourist places. Beautiful landscapes, fresh sea air, and a relaxing vibe — just perfect for a peaceful seaside getaway.

Charming and relaxing beach destination within easy reach of Hamburg. The weather happened to be nice during my stay, but it looks like it would still be an enjoyable destination if the weather wasn’t so sunny or warm. Local people were friendly and welcoming, and I learned interesting things about the region. There are a variety of places to eat, catering to higher end fine dining as well as more humble restaurants. I had a beautiful meal on the deck at Restaurant Rendezvous, as well as a delicious casual meal from the little takeaway huts along the marina. Cafe Ahoi coffee is a decent coffee option, and the bakery Bäckerei Seßelberg Niendorfwas also very good. Gift shop Snabbelsnuut was great with unique and affordable good quality items locally sourced with friendly helpful service, and Lambert Studio has a great selection of lovely homewares, with friendly and knowledgeable customer service.

Compact city (old part) easy for walking. Sights are close to the train station. Enjoyed most walking along quaint cobblestone streets with ambient lighting (romantic). Beautifully restored gable-house style buildings. Plenty of helpful direction signs to sights. Enjoyed visiting and observing harbor activities. Eat freshly caught seafood at harbor. Nice walk along Wismarer Bay to Bad Wendorf (closest beach).

The town is very beautiful - nature, architecture, the beach. It's just exceptional, so many places to enjoy! Restaurants are very expensive and the food is either mediocre or really bad. If you really like good food, I'd recommend purchasing products in supermarket and cook at home. Little fish shops with smoked fish is the best food this place has to offer in my opinion.
