The highlight was of course the Zugspite and the journey...
The highlight was of course the Zugspite and the journey there by train, rack-rail, and cable car. Amazing views from the Zugspitze plateau topped only by the panorama from the peak itself. Given more time we'd have explored the many hiking trails, including the Partnach Gorge, but did manage the short walk to the beautiful pilgrimage church of Wallfahrtskirche St. Anton, not far from our hotel in downtown Partenkirchen.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Obersalzberg is where we visited. The Eagles Nest is a quick visit as it’s just a restaurant and once you’ve seen the view there’s not a lot else. Get there early - it’s a zoo by 11:00am! Not a touristic centre like Berchtesgaden, Schonau or Fussen...
Not a touristic centre like Berchtesgaden, Schonau or Fussen but a good base from where to launch your escapades to the wonderful vicinities. We were here in the second week of September. Maybe it is more alive during July and August. However if you want a quiet, safe mid size town/village where to stay in Bavaria Bad Reichenhall is the place to be. It also has good public transport reaching all the surrounding areas, reaching as far as Salzburg by bus. As for restaurants we tried three besides our hotel's. Pizza Alla Stazione was a great place to have the usual Italian fare like pizza and pasta, but not just that. Portions are big and prices are very fair. Another Italian restaurant close by was La Dolce Vita which was also good although the portions are slightly smaller and the pizza isn't as good as Pizza Alla Stazione. It was also a tad more expensive. However, it was a pleasant experience eating there as well. Another restaurant we tried was Max Indische. It is an Indian Restaurant. We really enjoyed it there. Inzell is beautiful, lovely views, restaurants, cafes and activities to do. The chiemgau karte is the reason we can back. We hired bikes, played crazy golf, painted pottery, adventure golf, tyre sliding, indoor & outdoor pools, chair lifts, the buses, trains etc all on the card for free. We were then able to buy drinks/ snacks/ dinners at all the venues. It was fantastic. Ban Thai restaurant, Kreinburg, salvatone, vroni & lindl brauer restaurants were all very tasty. Very cute and picturesque town that is a bit off the beaten path so it is super nice and not so many tourists (and instagram/ tic tokers) flooding the place. Food was excellent everywhere. You can walk to almost anything within the town that you want to see and it had everything you could possibly need (grocery stores, hairdressers, etc.). Mittenwald has a lot to offer for all ages and interests. The historical city centre has a number of sights and a good choice of restaurants - for many the real beauty begins once you leave the city. From taking cable cars, walking along the river or through the forest to climbing peaks up to around 2,500 m, the natural surroundings are stunning. The city does a good job at offering public buses that take tourists to the most important sights and trailheads, giving us the chance to leave the car at home and help preserve the gem that Mittenwald is!Guest review bySebastianGermany
