Having stayed at this hotel before we had no hesitation in rebooking it. The location is perfect for us as family all live nearby in Hoogezand, Noordbroek and Groningen. The rooms are so spacious and comfortable beds which is important. The daily buffet breakfast certainly didn't disappoint and we used the restaurant on occasions including treating our family to a final farewell dinner. The staff were always very pleasant and helpful for\\rom the front, reception, restaurant staff, room service and ground staff.

I had a wonderful experience at Flonk Hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to assist with anything I needed. The breakfast was fantastic—rich, diverse, and truly worth it, with options for everyone. The view of the lake from the hotel was stunning, and all the facilities were top-notch, including the bike I rented to explore the area. The location is beautiful, surrounded by greenery and the lake, and while it's a bit away from the city center, it's only a 10-15 minute bike ride away. The Wi-Fi was excellent, which allowed me to work on my laptop without any issues. The hotel's restaurant offered delicious food, and the lobby was cozy, making me feel safe and warm throughout my stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable stay with great amenities!

I had a genuinely pleasant stay at Martini Hotel, and it delivered exactly what I was looking for. The breakfast at 07:00 was excellent. Not just standard hotel stuff, but thoughtfully prepared and surprisingly elaborate with typical products like cheese and those little chocolate thingies. A calm, well-organized start to the day, which I appreciated. My room was perfectly suited for a solo stay. Spacious enough, comfortable, and equipped with everything needed. No unnecessary luxury, but everything in place and working as it should. The location is a major advantage. Practically in the center, restaurants and bars across the street, just around the corner from Parking Rademarkt, which made logistics effortless (you can book in advance to be sure). The elevator was particularly useful for handling luggage and, in my case, a few treasures collected during the Koningsdag flea markets. Despite the lively atmosphere of the whole city during Koningsdag, I slept very well, like a baby. With simple earplugs, the noise becomes a non-issue. That is simply part of the experience, and entirely normal in the Netherlands. I love the Koningsdag experience. What stood out most was the atmosphere of the hotel itself. Spacious, slightly old-fashioned in the best possible way, and full of character. It has soul, something many modern hotels lack. The staff is present 24/7 and consistently super friendly, which adds a sense of ease and reliability throughout the stay. All in all, a hotel that combines practicality, warmth, and authenticity. I will absolutely return and for a longer stay. Love this place. It made me very happy. Little afterburner: you get a ticket for free "bitterballen". What is not to like ;-)

Great rooms. Everything was neat and clean and definitely met expectations. It was nice to have a bath in the bathroom as well. The restaurant was also very well kept with very friendly waiting staff. The experience was fantastic overall and in general a must-stay when compared to other hotels.

Groningen was a fantastic city to visit with a really friendly and welcoming vibe. The atmosphere throughout the city felt lively but relaxed, and we felt comfortable exploring day and night. I’d definitely recommend visiting the main square, as it’s full of energy with plenty of bars, restaurants, and things to see. That said, it’s also worth wandering a little further out to discover some of the smaller bars and hidden gems, which gave the city even more character. If you get the chance, try to catch a Netherlands match while you’re there — the atmosphere was incredible and made the trip even more memorable. Overall, a brilliant city with lots of charm, great nightlife, and a really enjoyable atmosphere.

We found a lovely outdoor playground which or kids loved. Beach was disappointing. The museum is fantastic!!! Restaurants were a bit hard to find in the evenings so we've ended up eating in the hotel.

Comfortable bed.

Comfortable bed. Downside breakfast poor, advised re allergies and fir gluten free for one of the party but unable to accommodate. In many a hotel when requested milk in our own drinking cup so that we can give our daughter her medication, we have never been charged for such but not here, charged more than a litre would have cost at the shop. They didn't even have any equipment to clean. Some of the butter was out of date, staff informed but not taken away. Had dessert but quite expensive for what we got. Disappointed Would avoid the hotel next time

Mostly pedestrian friendly all within easy walking distance. Delightful Carilion playing it's bells throughout the day lent charm and atmosphere. A range of shops from opticians and hairdressers to hardware and toys plus restaurants and bars. Seemed a lively night life on the Pentacostal weekend. Streets were clean - a little graffiti - and felt safe to stroll around at night.

If you are travelling across Europe from Sweden to get a...

If you are travelling across Europe from Sweden to get a ferry back to the UK (as we do) Zuidbroek is an ideal stopping off point. You do not need to hunt for your hotel through a busy town- it's just off the motorway! And the next day you have the pleasure of driving slowly across the Afsluitdijk after a pleasant wander round Makkum - the ferry is only 2 hours from there.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bourtange.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bourtange. It’s a very beautiful historic village within the walls of a fort. Very peaceful and quiet as my visit was in early spring. I had an excellent meal at ‘s Lands Huys.

The city is awesome!

The city is awesome! It was vibrant and friendly with some nice restaurants a great library (the Forum) and a beautiful canal with charming houseboats. I loved the style of the houses, walking all around the city. The Harbour Cafe was a great place to eat. We really enjoyed our time in Groningen. Unfortunately, my father was ill so we didn't do as much sightseeing as I would have liked, but even so, it was really fun. We also visited Bourtagne, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

Bourtange is a wonderful example of a Seventeenth Century...

Bourtange is a wonderful example of a Seventeenth Century star fort. There are lots of interesting features to explore and discover. The two bar/restaurants in the centre provide excellent meals and drinks.

It is a relatively large Ducth city.

It is a relatively large Ducth city. It has everything one would expect from a big city. It hosts two universities. Altough almost everything is structured around university students, there is a lot to do and see. Saying that one should not have expectations of a city, similar to Amsterdam or Rotterdam. The advantage is that it is compact, almost everywhere is within walking distance, people are very well educated. The only thing to keep in mind is the weather full of surprises...
