the hotel is very well located to take the ferry to Schiermonnikoog. the room was very comfortable, the bathroom very clean and we had a great view onto the harbor and the island we also enjoyed a great seafood dinner at their restaurant for a very reasonable price thanks

Everything! Superb room, we booked a junior suite, the bathroom eas out if this world! Spotlessly clean and very spacious and comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful and the food at breakfast and in the restaurant was exceptional, inventive and delicious. A superb stay and if we are in the vicinity again it would be the only place I would stay

Rooms were compact but had everything you needed such as iron and coffee making facilities, breakfast had a wide selection. The evening meals were insane, the quality of food for a hotel restaurant was far beyond expectations even to the point of returning there the evening i checked out for a meal.

Staff was lovely, friendly and very helpful. The hotel was clean and cozy, and an entrance to the terrace straight from the room was great to have! The location of the hotel is very good, and I really appreciated the possibility to rent a bike from the hotel. I also felt safe at the hotel.

This is a great city, almost without tourists.

This is a great city, almost without tourists. Very young, many students on the streets. It is also a bycicle town. A beautiful park in the middle of the city. Lots of cafes and restaurants. Visit the local museum, it is really good.

We found a lovely outdoor playground which or kids loved. Beach was disappointing. The museum is fantastic!!! Restaurants were a bit hard to find in the evenings so we've ended up eating in the hotel.

If you are travelling across Europe from Sweden to get a...

If you are travelling across Europe from Sweden to get a ferry back to the UK (as we do) Zuidbroek is an ideal stopping off point. You do not need to hunt for your hotel through a busy town- it's just off the motorway! And the next day you have the pleasure of driving slowly across the Afsluitdijk after a pleasant wander round Makkum - the ferry is only 2 hours from there.

Comfortable bed.

Comfortable bed. Downside breakfast poor, advised re allergies and fir gluten free for one of the party but unable to accommodate. In many a hotel when requested milk in our own drinking cup so that we can give our daughter her medication, we have never been charged for such but not here, charged more than a litre would have cost at the shop. They didn't even have any equipment to clean. Some of the butter was out of date, staff informed but not taken away. Had dessert but quite expensive for what we got. Disappointed Would avoid the hotel next time

Mostly pedestrian friendly all within easy walking distance. Delightful Carilion playing it's bells throughout the day lent charm and atmosphere. A range of shops from opticians and hairdressers to hardware and toys plus restaurants and bars. Seemed a lively night life on the Pentacostal weekend. Streets were clean - a little graffiti - and felt safe to stroll around at night.

Lauwersoog itself is not much more than a huge camping, a street with holiday houses and a small harbour with fishing boats, ferries and a few fish restaurants. The nearby lake (Lauwersmeer) is big and quiet with lots of possible activities (if not closed due to covid). A great place for watersports and/or bird spotters. If you have a car available, it's a short drive to the cities of Dokkum, Leeuwarden and Gronningen. But if you like an adventure, drive to Moddergat and walk on the Waddenzee.

Was there on a warm late summer Friday at the city center. The vibe was absolutely charming. All the restaurants had open air tables that were filled with friends and families. Wherever you walked, there was a happy buzz of conversation, everyone like bees in a hive. Loved how the residents of all ages get around on bicycles. Went to an incredible cheese shop, Kaashandel van der Leij, that had not just local fare, but also an impressive collection of cheeses from other European locations. Visited the encyclopedic Groninger Museum that had interesting contemporary and historic collections as well as an impressive collection of ancient Asian ceramics.

Interesting town from where nice excursions can be made (Leeuwarden, for example, or Dokkum). Town itself has a few interesting museums and pleasant to walk around. wide range of restaurants. Lovely atmosphere.
