- From $511.30 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 575 reviewsThe view from our room was marvelous. The room was big, clean, equipped with everything. Good breakfast and dessert. Appreciated the snacks served between breakfast and dinner. Plenty of alcoholic drinks to choose from, good cocktails. I appreciated the private sundeck with sunbeds and that the SUPs and canoes were for free, as well as life vests and paddles. The self service bar was a nice touch too. Even though we discovered it on our own, since no one actually told us about it. Even if I did not use the service, I think it's cool they provide bikes for rental. I appreciated we received the Grainau Card, even if we didn't really use it. But a cute gesture. Parking with a lot of spaces, only for hotel guests.Guest review byTeodoraRomania
- From $254.48 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,593 reviewsThe breakfast was extensive and super fresh. Once of the best we had in Germany. The room was very clean and had some old world Alpine charm but not outdated. Our room had an incredible balcony that viewed the whole of the surrounding buildings of Mittenwald and of the alps. The sauna and pool was breathtaking. The staff was some of the nicest people! And the location couldn't get any better. Literally no complaints and truly hope I can stay there again in the future!Guest review byEloiseIreland

The highlight was of course the Zugspite and the journey there by train, rack-rail, and cable car. Amazing views from the Zugspitze plateau topped only by the panorama from the peak itself. Given more time we'd have explored the many hiking trails, including the Partnach Gorge, but did manage the short walk to the beautiful pilgrimage church of Wallfahrtskirche St. Anton, not far from our hotel in downtown Partenkirchen.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A picturesque little village with a train station to the Zugspitze, outdoor and indoor swimming and saunas, beautiful mini-golf, lots of hiking trails, and good connections, e.g., Garmisch to Partenkirchen and the Austrian side. It is only under a 1,5 h drive from Munich.Guest review byTiinaFinland - 10.0

The DE-ticket works between Ehrwald and Garmish, despite that Ehrwald is in Austria, so one can travel freely there. The Zugspitze, Sonnenspitze and other locations are reachable by train/bus/cable car from Ehrwald. The Seebensee is fantastic lake, one can get there by a bus+cable car and using and normal road or a bus and a rather difficult via ferrata. Also there is an indoor climbing (about 15m high) gym with 4 automatic belaying stations in Ehrwald, so one can climb even during bad weather conditions.Guest review byPavelGermany - 10.0

Being in Oberammergau is like walking into a storybook - beautiful and serene. We loved our meal at Ella's cafe, and we enjoyed strolling through the village. The mountain air is so refreshing - gorgeous in summer!Guest review byNAVUnited States - 6.0
From a skiing perspective, it's not the most exciting area.
From a skiing perspective, it's not the most exciting area. Although it's really easy to reach (we drove in 7,5 hours from the middle of the Netherlands), the town is a bit lower and therefore snow conditions are not perfect in the valley. Mountain snow conditions were a lot better. I can imagine in Summer it's amazing to hike, for skiing it would not be my area of choice, although I can imagine with young kids it's lovely.Guest review byAnnefloorNetherlands - 10.0
Mittenwald has a lot to offer for all ages and interests.
Mittenwald has a lot to offer for all ages and interests. The historical city centre has a number of sights and a good choice of restaurants - for many the real beauty begins once you leave the city. From taking cable cars, walking along the river or through the forest to climbing peaks up to around 2,500 m, the natural surroundings are stunning. The city does a good job at offering public buses that take tourists to the most important sights and trailheads, giving us the chance to leave the car at home and help preserve the gem that Mittenwald is!Guest review bySebastianGermany - 10.0
Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey.
Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey. Which is certainly impressive. You'll most likely visit Ettal for the region, as it is a great point to start your hikes and/or visit Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkichen. Munchen and Innsbruck are only an hour drive away.Guest review byArthurNetherlands - 8.0

Biberwier is a beautiful, pastoral village nestled in the Austrian Alps, offering a serene and picturesque environment for visitors. The village is perfectly situated, providing easy access to a variety of nearby attractions, including skiing and hiking trails, scenic lakes, and cultural landmarks. It's an excellent base for exploring the Tyrolean region, with its charming local atmosphere and close proximity to popular destinations like the Zugspitz Arena, the Marienberg ski area, and the breathtaking Fernpass region. For those looking for a peaceful retreat with plenty of outdoor activities, Biberwier is an ideal choice. However, it is important to research your accommodation options carefully to ensure a pleasant stay.Guest review byItamarIsrael - 10.0

Farchant is a great stay if you want to be out of the busyness of Garmisch-Partenkirchen but not too far away to be a moment away. Great local food and welcoming people, have been coming here for years and plan to return. The atlas hotel has a great restaurant with lots of choice and it’s easy to get to with the train station from Munich or Garmisch-Partenkirchen.Guest review byChristopherUnited Kingdom
