The park of the Iguanas was a major hit with the kids.
The park of the Iguanas was a major hit with the kids. The free museum of past Guayaquil too. The Zoo in Guayaquil was amazing with African and Asian animals but the Capybara was what we all wanted to see. Malecon 2000 was beautiful with a boat ride in the river was GREAT. Guayaquil as most of Ecuador is full of crime. The hotel where I was staying was one block away from city government building and it was still not a safe place. There is a light house which is a tourist attraction and you can not go visit because your car will be stopped and you will be robbed. Many places and historical landmarks for sightseeing. I highly recommend the Historical Park in Samborondon. There are security challenges at the time of visit, highly recommend that you have Spanish speaking skill or a local friend. Locals I have encountered are very friendly. Personally I did not encounter any crime or any dangerous situations. Taxis are very cheap and cost normally no higher than $5. The infrastructure has actually improved since my last visit and I see great future for this city. I highly recommend trying grilled maduro and Pollo Campero. Some people say Pollo Campero is not the same anymore but it's pretty good IMO.Guest review byMalcolm
