- From $82.95 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 566 reviewsFirst thing we were thankful for, was that our number was on the 1st floor - we overpacked a little because of the weather, so it was nice to not walk a lot and higher than the 1st floor. We liked that breakfast was inclusive and we liked the buffet. We also liked the light dimming curtains - we went to Pühajärve jaanituli festival and that meant we would come back to the hotel early in the morning, when the sun was rising - and so the curtains were perfect to make the room dark enough to get a good rest. The view out of the window was nice & green - I find it relaxing. The bathroom was also lovely, it had cleaning products and glasses for guests to use for drinking tap water or for teethbrushing and it smelled after magnolia wood there if I'm not mistaken - the ceiling was wooden and that's where the lovely smell came from, reminded me of the smell of a sauna. We had a small fridge in our number - a good addition to put our own food and drinks there to eat a little before sleep. I think we forgot our fridge magnet there, but that's not a big issue - happens 😅. By the fridge was a desk which I was happy over, because we could put our laptop there and kiddo could have fun playing games inbetween sleep and our festival visits - we went for 2 nights/3 days. I was also thankful for the receptonist to remind me of my trip planning for next year's visit - certainly will consider coming back!Guest review byAnnaEstonia
- From $142.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 852 reviewsWe were pretty much super happy with our stay. We arrived unplanned a hour earlier, but it was no problem to check-in. Our room was extremely spacious and clean. Huge comfy bed and lots of space to feel at home. The bathroom was spacious and functional. Maybe the shower cabin could have been a bit taller. It was also perfectly clean. The hotel provided bathrobes and slippers. The bed was very comfy and guaranteed a good night sleep, unless there is a particular strong storm outside (in Norway called Hans). There was lots of wind blowing and one needed to keep the windows open as the room was extremely overheated and there is no A/C. But that is hardly the hotels fault. For the second night, we had no problem to get a really good night sleep. Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of food options, and in general of really high quality. The fried bacon, liver pate and bread were excellent. They didn't make the impression of being bought in a super market but rather sourced locally or produced on site in the restaurant kitchen. Coffee was freshly made using an espresso machine. This was one of the best breakfast we enjoyed outside of Scandinavia. We also had dinner at the restaurant, and were not disappointed. The quality was excellent. We really enjoyed it. Finally the staff was super friendly and helpful. They took good care of us. We will definitely stay at Metsis again.Guest review byChristianNorway
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 362 reviewsAmazing experience. Me and my wife were the only guests at the time, and since there is no 24 hours desk, meaning employees go home for the night, we had a whole villa in beautiful nature next to the lake for ourselves :) We were very pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. Villa has a restaurant on their property, and the chef came over during the morning only to make our breakfast, which tasted amazing, looked like a fancy restaurant dish youd order for 20+ euro, and the size was so big that we left most of it untouched sadly. At our second day we encountered a very friendly lady working in the yard, and after talking for a bit we found out that she is the owner. She was very welcoming and gave off a very positive vibe :)Guest review byAlbertEstonia

Responsive and friendly hotel receptionist. Good sauna on the 7th floor with terrace and charming landscape view. The hotel located in a beautiful an quite place. Excellent restaurant on the 1th floor - delicious, prices matches the quality. If we travel to Otepaa again, we will gladly return to this hotel.Guest review byJeļenaLatvia

I wish I knew more Estonian, but I sincerely appreciate that everyone I encountered spoke English. I don't expect this in all the various countries I visit, but it makes my trip much easier. Very comfortable and neat appartment, efficient heating which matters in the winter when we have stayed there. Cosy surroundings, fantastic location just few minutes from the lake where you can start your cross-counrty skiing at at a well maintained classical trail from this lake (Otepaa) to Kaariku for the first day. Also great classical trails along the famous Tartu Marathon. And a very kind host, Mati. Our stay was just fantastic. P.S. In Otepaa very well supplied Konsum Coop to do basic shopping.Guest review byArturPoland - 4.0

The Castle hotel is the only real interest in the area but the hotel has an expensive and poor quality restaurant. There are no other options close by. It seems that the hotel relies on day trippers for additional revenue by having a themed flower show. Although the gardens are lovely the day trippers ruin what could be a pampered hoilday.Guest review byBobby SoleAustralia - 6.0
If you like to enjoy nature you might visit Sangaste.
If you like to enjoy nature you might visit Sangaste. There is a dendrological park 3 kilometers away from Rukki Maja. Recommended in summer, of course. It is close to the Castle which you also can visit or even stay there. If you like skiing, mountain or cross country, then go towards Otepää or Kuutsemäe by car. Also there has been a cross country skiing track from the Castle to Kääriku through many years. In summer use a bike to enjoy the nature.Guest review byxanseEstonia - 10.0
We love Otepää & Pühajärve.
We love Otepää & Pühajärve. Fantastic central location in South Estonia. Plenty of hotels, apartments & guesthouses to rent. Perfect for taking day trips to surrounding areas & sites. Town itself is very pretty & has great grocery stores. People & service is exceptional. My husband had a headache, but in Estonia pharmaceuticals are only sold in pharmacies - no headache tablets in grocery stores or petrol stations etc. It was late in the evening and all pharmacies were closed. We went to the local petrol station in hopes to find some pain killers only to find out they are only sold in pharmacies, so the lady at the counter gave us some of her own headache tablets ♥️♥️♥️ I love wild swimming & Pühajärve lake has a great sandy beach + beautiful park for those who love walking. Plus there is a boat rental etc available. All in all a great place to enjoy nature 🪷🌿🤍Guest review bykaroliUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There isn't much to do in Taagepera.
There isn't much to do in Taagepera. You can hike, you can have a walk, enjoy the nature or drive around the southern part of Estonia to discover more sightseeings. In Taagepera there is a very nice castle with spa and restaurant, which is a must visit place if you are in Taagepera.Guest review byMasuurikasEstonia
