For the kids there is a theme park in nearby PortAventura! For the adults, Salou is right next to the Priorat Region; one of the two premier wine regions of Spain. La Pineda offers lovely views on a huge harbour. Sorry for the irony. Furthermore it's quite a tacky place with lots of cheap, lousy shops. The restaurants were quite good, although there aren't many of them that look nice as well. Currently they are remodelling the boardwalk, so that's a downside as well. The beaches are lovely though! Peaceful, quiet but with enough options to eat and drink. It's a bit far from Barcelona, and public transport is not really walking distance; you need a car to move around. Didn't know about Torredembarra beforehand. We just selected the destination because it was easily reachable by train from Barcelona. Communication via hotel on WhatsApp before my arrival which meant I could check in late at night due to my flight arriving late in the evening. Shower gel and a bottle of water were provided in the room which was a nice surprise for a budget hotel. lovely place to visit for families felt very safe there We ate in lots of different restaurants also lovely little places down by the beach at night time to have a drink. We were able to get around -no bother I wish i had got more info about Bus Plana as it seems to be the way to get around for further destinations but maybe next time! We visited the Caribe water park, ferrari land and also rented bikes and cycled to Cambrils which has a bike land all the way and is a lovely short cycle. Tarragona has so much history and you can see a lot of it without paying entry fees as it's all very open. The beaches are great & plentiful. We stayed near Savinosa which is beautiful - many naturists there but also many families so it seems to work well, very liberal and tolerant attitude which we liked. The buses in Spain in general are fantastic and Tarragona is no exception. We used the buses into the centre and back from Altafulla having walked the 10k coastal path there which is beautiful and well worth it. Lovely place to stay, especially couples, very comfy & clean, fabulous food (half board). Direct access to beach which was great. Sea view balcony was lovely. Nice pool for lounging also. La Pineda is very clean, safe area. Plenty of shops to browse through with restaurants & bars to sample also.
