We stayed in one of the upgraded rooms on the first floor, and it had a full-size door you can open to a sort of balcony, which was amazing in the morning to smell the fresh air. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and kind enough to show me a great place to park when we went downtown. Young, buzzy city - feels like a real discovery. Alvar Aalto Museum is good if you are interested in design with lots of his buildings around too and the lake is a lovely walk/ run. Some nearby attractions too, so you need a car to make the most of this area. Jyvastyla was a great surprise, we visited the Aalto museum, which was excellent. We walk to the University of Jyvaskyla, very impressive and beautiful.
