I went for a swim and came back to reception where the line was exceptionally long. The manager, Laura, noticed me and came out to see me. In a few minutes she had me up to my room #333-Ocean View, corner close to the pool! Huge shower, balcony, perfect room and a bellman that showed me the hidden fridge and other perc’s of the room. I could see the indian culture and roots. Overall Fiji is excellent destination but due to wrong resort selected my whole vacation got spoiled. You must check the review before selecting property. Very beautiful island however it’s very dark on the roads at night, really needs street lights. And remark the speed humps on the road, for new comers it’s invincible. The pay parking at the centre Denarau shops. We had dinner for maybe 2hr and it only cost 4.50 and the next night we only stay for an hr or less and it cost 5.80 how does that work out like that. Lots of food options.
Lots of food options. Go to the market for local food and coconut water. Malls located all over the main Suva shopping and eating area close to the market and within walking distance from each other. Parking is a humbug and best you park on the multi storeyed parking lots for shopping malls. They can be expensive so plan what you want to do before making the journey to Suva. I enjoy getting far away from the tourist crowds when I travel to the islands, especially to see the people of the land and their way of life. Lautoka is an awesome place to get an insight of the beautiful Fijian culture, its people and community, and the real Fiji. A beautiful beach spoilt by floating litter and rubbish in the water. I have seen this often around the world and understand that it is a side effect of a bigger issue. Overall, it was a great trip. Several onsite restaurants catered to all types of palette, friendly staff, good food and beautiful resort. Lagoon water was warm and great for a light swim/dip. We loved the area as it was not too busy, Maui Bay had a supermarket, open area restaurants and the Indian/Thai restaurant on the main road was amazing. Polynesian nights with lovo Dinner, held at resorts - Ultiqa fiji palms monday night, uprise beach resort Thursday night, Pearl resort friday night, is not to be missed. Pizza night at Ultiqa, indian buffet night next door at Pearl resort. Navua river rafting with village visit and waterfall. Fresh fruits and vegetables on roadside market stalls.
