This hotel exceeded my expectations. I spent a two nights in a 244 euros a night hotel in Bordeaux earlier this month and this Kyriad was a better experience room wise - and parking was free as opposed to an additional 60 euros. I did not eat in the restaurant but it looked comfortable and the menu was appealing. I did not have breakfast but will next time as they serve a full English breakfast.

    The location was fantastic right in front of the sea in front of the main promenade. Our room was amazing with a huge balcony an sun loungers overlooking the pool with an amazing view of Hondarriba in the distance. The beds were comfortable and the room had everything we needed. We did not eat in the hotel as we decided to get a water taxi for €2.30 each across to Hondarriba which was buzzing with atmosphere and plenty of gastronomical delights to choose from. We really enjoyed the Thalassotherapy pool which was included in our room price. This was amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t have as long as we wanted here as the hotel receptionist on the morning of departure could strangely only organise our taxi for a certain early time although we requested it after check our time so we could fully avail of the Thalassotherapy pool. We thought that she could have been a bit more helpful as the staff on the previous day were extremely nice and understanding and helpful. The hotel breakfast buffet breakfast was quite pricey for us, even the cheaper option of the coffee/croissant was €8 but there are plenty of cafes nearby to choose from. Overall we had a fantastic stay.

    Great food and wine 🍷we found walking around town the nicest way around, go to the tourist information centre, get some free maps and info on buses trams etc. The river buses use same tickets as land buses. Buy first at some bus stops, the tap in on bus/boat. You can add 1 or 10 trips on One ticket (more if you want) once "stamped" the ticket lasts for 1hour on as many buses or boats! Do go on the "small train" near the info centre first, this takes you around the most of the highlights with multi language headsets. Enjoy. The just relax drink and eat.

    Bayonne is a lovely town in the middle of the French Basque area. The old town is totally walkable with lots of shops, bars, chocolate stores, sidewalk cafes, and great restaturants. One can just stroll around and decide which restaurant to enjoy.

    I was only there 1 night and until 3pm the following day. It's a really charming town with friendly local people, great food and drink options, history and culture and the stunning backdrop of the Pyrénées. I visited the Musee de Beaux Arts which was brilliant, Blend coffee and had a lovely evening with superb beers at Craft de Pyrénées.

    We loved the town, we enjoyed the variety of shops and restaurants. The beach was awesome. We visited Dune Pilat, climbed to the top and were astounded by the views. We would have liked to see much more of the area but our time was short. It was a taste that left us wanting to savour much much more, hopefully soon.

    Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! Also some good local shops.

    We know the area and were primarily there to visit a friend.

    We know the area and were primarily there to visit a friend. We were on a budget so had to use public transport, which turned out to be super easy to use. You can pay with cash or bank card directly on the bus (you can only buy one ticket with a bank card, however) or you can buy a loaded card with ten tickets (which you can use for more than one person) at machines at train stations, principal stops and tobacconists. Timetables are given at bus stops and are accurate. Make sure you know when the public holidays are, as these affect public transport considerably. The bus journey to Biarritz station is less than half an hour (depending on the route they take) and from there you can travel quickly and inexpensively to St Jean de Luz, Bayonne and elsewhere. The three towns I have mentioned are so close by, yet so contrasting and are all worth a visit. The number 36 bus (a little further away from the apartment - maybe 8-10 mins walk) give you access to beaches up the coast, like La Madrague. I used Google Maps a lot and found its advise re: public transport super helpful. My teenage girls loved the frothy hot chocolate at Chez Cazenave in Bayonne, https://www.chocolats-bayonne-cazenave.fr/4-nos-chocolats. They were welcoming, and the food was delicious and simply presented (our party includes seafood enthusiasts and picky eaters).
