Great location for exploring the Loire Valley. Wonderful chateau. Room was giant by French sizes. AC was there, but we didn't need it as it was zero degrees! The room was quite comfortable, as was the bed. The breakfast was very good as well, pretty much everything we might have wanted. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, the people were nice and would most certainly go back again and recommend our friends go if they were heading there.

Tours is a bustling and unspoilt French provincial city. There are many historic and beautiful buildings. churches the chateau and the Musee des Beaux Arts. Streets have many fascinating visitas. It is also a cosmopolitan city with communities from around the world adding to its fascination. Today there was an amazing market which filled many of the streets in the centre of the city selling all sorts of new and vintage items, as well as a range of foods.

There are two monuments of must-see quality in Bourges: the cathedral, which is utterly outstanding, and the renaissance palace of Jacques Coeur. The old centre itself is exceedingly fine, rich in medieval, renaissance and eighteenth-century buildings. The gardens by the cathedral are beautiful, there was open-air dancing and a superb free light show through the old town. Bourges should be on everyone's bucket list.

We usually use Chartres as on overnight stop for travelling further south and it's always a pleasant town to visit. The Son et Lumiere display on the Cathedral and other locations around the town centre are always amazing. The central old town is lovely to wander round with plenty of restaurants offering well priced, good quality food, not a fast food chain outlet in sight!

Blois is a very old historic city with a Royal Chateau and a House of Magic. Very good for families with children. There are many other Castles and a Zoo nearby. I needed to find a bed without any dinner or other facilities late in the day and only for the night as would be moving on early the next day. Therefore cost was the primary concern. It was cheap and the bed comfortable, though the room noisy when other guests were moving around the building or noisy in their rooms. Don't take breakfast option, it was poor value and not as you might expect when at reception. Behind reception is a pleasant looking restaurant, however breakfast for this hotel is in a side room which is not so pleasant and with not a great selection of food and drink. Check in staff did not make this clear when option offered at check in.

An interesting town, at least in the older central area around the church (or cathedral). Seemed full of life with interesting shops and restaurants. Also a wide selection of local wines on sale. The access to the hotel by car was easy and the hotel parking was plentiful. In the past we were able to bring our own wine and pay corkage but this year we were told to drink it in our room. We got up and left and went to another restaurant. The restaurant is within the grounds of the hotel but seems to be managed by a different person to the hotel owner.
