IrelandThis was simply exceptional, from the moment we arrived on the boat, right through our stay, to the time we left. We were simply mesmerised by the Island and by the hotel, and this stay is something we will remember for a long time to come.
We stayed in a suite and the room was fantastic. The furniture was most comfortable and both it and the decor were very tasteful. The room temperature was always perfect and the views out to the garden were stunning.
The bathroom was probably the best hotel bathroom I've ever experienced. In typical French fashion, the toilet is in its own room, while the bath, his/hers sinks, and shower, are in a different room. This latter part was spacious and modern, and all around great.
The restaurant was great. The menu is simple, but was perfect for us, and not overly pricey.
Hotel guests can access the museum free of charge. Its well worth the visit too.
The island itself is fantastic. Though the review is for the hotel and not the island, it wouldn't feel complete without mentioning the island. The nature, the beach walks, the UNESCO site - all well worth taking the time to do or explore.
Lastly, the staff were great. Very friendly and very helpful.
I can't comment on the standard rooms in this hotel but I would recommend paying the extra to upgrade to the suite.

SlovakiaWe have enjoyed every minute of our stay here. Nice and peaceful area, great location close to the Utah beach, perfect breakfast and comfortable bed in nice bedroom with design bathroom. Staff is really helpful and friendly. The whole concept focusing on bio farming is great, you can also buy products from their home utah beef. Despite the fact we didnt use it - spa looks also amazing and we saw electric charges for the cars, that somebody may find very useful.

The room itself was clean and comfy, the facilities in the room were great. I enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the morning which was well prepared and very delicious.

Gorgeous location right on the marina within walking distance of restaurants and the few local shops. The welcome was warm and friendly and our room was spacious, comfortable and airy with a super big bed and generous sized shower room. The petits fours and coffee making facilities were a lovely touch. We enjoyed a glass of Champagne in the Frenchly chic and relaxing lounge area.
The scrambled eggs at breakfast are unmissable! Definitely somewhere we would like to stay again.

Our room was actually a suite with a separate study. Surroundings were beautiful, breakfast excellent and service like in 5-star hotel- only it's a historic castle. This is as close as you might ever get to being invited to spend a night in a historic castle. Our toilet was in the small tower with archers windows ❤️

It's location, the car park is beside it which you have to pay.
We normally stay in rooms in the annexe. These are beautiful rooms.
This time they gave us a room in the hotel it was horrible so we paid extra to be moved.

It's very compact. Lots of bars.
It's very compact. Lots of bars. We did feel unwelcome when going round restaurants trying to find somewhere to eat. Even though the various restaurants were just about empty they turned us away saying they were fully booked.
The submarine La Redoutable is a great visit.
You get a han held guide as you go through the submarine. Was great. The Cite de la mer.
Most things are only a 10 or 15 min walk. The hypermarket is great too. Only 5 mins away.

There is nothing I could suggest to change Barneville-Carteret. We have been going there almost every year for about fifty years, sometimes several times a year. We love the whole atmosphere. We like the fact that you can buy a croissant from the boulangerie in Carteret and sit to eat it with a coffee at the Bar Du Port. We love the Saturday market in Barneville where we can sit at the Bar in the square with a coffee, soaking up the atmosphere and watching the world go by. We love to look at the local produce on sale, particularly the fruit, vegetables and fish. I always go to the gift shop, La Cigale, and buy lovely gifts which they wrap beautifully for me. In Barneville the Hotel Des Isles is just so lovely and relaxing. I could stay there a week on my own, just soaking up the atmosphere. It is wonderful just to sit on the terrace, with a drink, and look out at the sea. Perfect!

It is a very pretty seaside village with fishing boats and a marina. There is a good reasonably priced Michelin restaurant L'Estran. A trip to a small island Tatihou can be made with ruins, tropical gardens and fine dining restaurant.

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND "LE NEPTUNE" FOR A COUPLE, ABOUT 2 KM FROM THE TOWN CENTER.
THERE ARE ALSO A FEW BASIC HOTELS IN THE TOWN SQUARE.
Sainte-Mère-Église IS A VERY NICE TOWN. THE MUSEUMS IN THE AREA ARE OUTSTANDING. PLAN ON ONE DAY PER MUSEUM; THERE MUST BE AT LEAST 8 WELL-DONE MUSEUMS, EACH OFFERING A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE. THE FALIASE GAP MUSEUM IS WELL WORTH THE EXTRA DRIVING TIME. THE UTAH BEACH MUSEUM IS INDEED RIGHT ON THE BEACH. ARROMANCHE MUSEUM IS AN EASY DRIVE FROM Sainte-Mère-Église. THE PONT DU HOC REQUIRES ABOUT 1 HOUR OF HIKING/WALKING TO SEE THE EMPLACEMENT SITES.

Great little village, especially for those who like WWII...
Great little village, especially for those who like WWII history. Beautiful church sits in the middle of the village square. Lovely little creperie/restaurant right on the square. Church bells can take a little bit to get used to, but after a while you like hearing them. Only 5 minutes drive from Utah Beach & its great museum. Nearest town is Carentan which is less than 15 minutes drive. Has all you will need.

I cannot say how wonderful my stay was at Les Pieux. The Town was great with much history. The people were very friendly and warm.

A charming little fishing port.
A charming little fishing port. There are still one or two commercial fishing boats and masses of small craft in the harbour with dries out hot low tide. There are a good number of restaurants and bars clustered around the port

A lovely place to stay. Accommodation as described. Public areas are filled with quirky, eclectic and colorful objects. The grounds/gardens are lovely and tidy. Staff especially Sarah and Alain very helpful and friendly. Easy access to lots of lovely areas to visit. Ate in the onsite creperie which we would recommend.

There is an interesting old town with good shops.
There is an interesting old town with good shops. The coast on both sides of the port is very pretty, especially so to the West. We walked along the coast by the beaches on the West one day. We drove out further to both West and East on following days.
We recommend the modern stained glass windows in the cathedral.
We found a very good restaurant called La Musette, across the car park behind the hotel. It was so good we went back the following evening.
