- From $158.49 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 677 reviewsThe entire building is from 1438 - yes the Middle Ages! There is also a waterfall that literally touches the breakfast area! Incredible! We had a room with twin beds and it was perfect. Beautiful view, great towels, bedding, closet space, everything I wanted. Internet was aided by a mobile unit that strengthened coverage and I was able to have Zoom meetings with no issues. We had dinner at the spectacular restaurant, worthy of 1 star Guide Michelin. All the staff are extremely sweet, cheerful and competent. I would come back in a heartbeat!Guest review byXtineUnited States

Dole is a really atmospheric, beautiful little town.
Dole is a really atmospheric, beautiful little town. Perfect to spend a few hours exploring. Seems to be a bit of a gastronomic centre, but unfortunately none of the restaurants was open when I was there (Sunday morning).Guest review byJamesSwitzerland - 4.0

Although locate in a superb area for walking a town can easily judge a town by the age profile and what facilities are open and he quality of them. The town boast 24000 in 1973 and now has an aging population of 9000. The bars are well we could not find one that had any 'local' attmosphere and the restaurants looked run down and catering for some minorities. The only supermarket is a SPAR with dodgy hygiene standards in the centre. The cathedral is rpobably the real tail tail - what happened there. I uess the give away is the number of high rise blocks of flats that are only 20% occupied by the said elderly and the number of lights on in the evening. For a town that is trying to attract tourism according the 'Office de Tourism' it needs to decide who as there is nothing in town to do that!! The trot round town 1 hour tops then roll on.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The city and surrounding area was simply charming.
The city and surrounding area was simply charming. We were there on market day and that was a real treat. Local shops were friendly and interesting. We visited Louis Pasteur home and had an interesting tour. Our B&B hostess recommended a local restaurant that was wonderful and we had read about a nearby castle/hotel with dining which was also way beyond expectation. Everything was a great value. The town is very walkable.Guest review bymary janeUnited States - 8.0

We were unfortunate with the weather - our intention had been to take several hikes around the Les Rousses area, but once the temperature dropped from the mid-30s (on day 2) it then started to rain with heavy downpours and thunder storms, meaning that hiking was not really an option. Unfortunately, without a car in the rain in August (with many businesses on holiday), there isn't that much to do in Les Rousses itself - the Fort des Rousses is great, but you do need reasonable weather for the other outdoor activities. We also had to arrange transport as we don't drive, and the local taxi service is limited (book well in advance if you need a taxi). But the walk to the lake is lovely as is the walk up to the Roche Blanche (and I think the hike to Le Noirmont would also have been great had we been able to complete it or see anything....).Guest review byCarolineUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Very cute little village and centrally located for exploring...
Very cute little village and centrally located for exploring the Jura region. There are a few fantastic cheese shops right there on the town square. The Maison de Comte is nearby and was an interesting and educational stop. Also liked the winery stop at Freres Noir. Our only complaint was that we were there on a Sunday-Tuesday and had some challenges finding open restaurants. Luckily we created a lovely picnic dinner in the beautiful courtyard at the Clos Grimont and brought yummy cheese and wine we had bought in the village.Guest review byKatrinaUnited States - 8.0

Really beautiful town set both by the river and the canal. We were on our way to Calais so did not have the time or energy to fully appreciate the setting or explore, but what we did see was charming.Guest review byGillUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Arbois is a pretty little town set among vineyards.
Arbois is a pretty little town set among vineyards. Its main claim to fame is that it was where Louis Pasteur undertook his first experiments and the house where he lived is open to the public and well worth a visit. There are plenty of restaurants in the town and the Bistronome is one of our favourites. All serve the local wines which are not well known outside the locality and will come as a pleasant surprise.Guest review byMartineFrance - 10.0

Les Rousses is at the ideal altitude for body regeneration (1000-1500). Beautiful green landscapes. Close to rural activities (cows breeding). Numerous restaurants available at a good price. Huge spaces for everyone. Walks available around the lake. Swiss country reach at 2 km. It's a location I'm used to go over and over without ever getting bored. Hotel Restaurant du Mont Saint-Jean (Golf) is a very nice place to go for Hotel AND restaurant ! Planted in the countryside...Guest review byBernardAruba - 6.0
A cute town, with plenty of restaurants and cafes.
A cute town, with plenty of restaurants and cafes. The centre of the Arbois wine area, with a good selection of wine shops if you need to buy Arbois wine. Not many 'sights' in the town, but we used Arbois as a good centre for visiting local areas, like Gorges du Herisson, Besancon, Dole - don't go there on a wet Sunday !!) and other natural sights, all of which were a delight. Our first visit to the Jura. It's beautiful, and at the time of year we visited (September) the weather was good but not too crowded with visitors - I'd imagine, based on the amount of holiday home locations we encountered, that July and August would be very very busy.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Les Rousses is a fantastic centre for day walking.
Les Rousses is a fantastic centre for day walking. There are dozens of well marked routes of various length and for different abilities. Just buy the walking map from the Office of Tourism and you are ready to go. I have no car and had enough walks for a week. If you have a car the possibilities are endless. Some of those hills are really steep so have fun! There is a good mix of open and forest walking.Guest review byLouise
