A very pleasant and welcoming town. I'll certainly be back.
A very pleasant and welcoming town. I'll certainly be back. The nearby restaurant Inde ('e' acute} provided excellent food and good wine. Very easy to get around on foot. The station was only 15 minutes from the hotel. Lots of pleasant shops. And of course the famous Pruneaux d'Agen are delicious.Guest review byAnthony PhilipUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Marmande is probably best seen in the holiday season.
Marmande is probably best seen in the holiday season. It has a quiet charm and there are some delightful spots although the central shopping area is suffering from vacant properties and a slightly 'run down' appearance. The locals are very friendly, open and communicative and Maison Parra quite extraordinary!Guest review byVivianFrance - 10.0

We only needed a few hours in V-s-L which is which is why we chose to stay a short distance outside the town in the pretty countryside rather than in the centre of town. I’m very glad we did, particularly as it was a Sunday and the town was very quiet.Guest review byIslayUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Was at Monflanquin to help my son with his rebuilding project - clearing an old barn prior to the builders starting - so only went to the Recycling Centre just outside and the Casino Supermarket to purchase food and petrol supplies etc. but the sports facilities close to where I stayed looked very good.Guest review byAnthonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We spent 3 nights in Agen. Super city full of history.
We spent 3 nights in Agen. Super city full of history. Information and maps available from the very helpful tourist office. Canal du Midi passes through the town and it has a cycle path - Voie Verte on both sides. For driving the centre is car free and a lot of the streets are one way!!Guest review byMagzsFrance - 8.0
A small town surrounded by smaller towns.
A small town surrounded by smaller towns. If you are looking for something, you may not find it, but if you are just looking, you will find many wonderful things and people. There is a beautiful and quiet trail along the lazy river. You'll see others, but it's not crowded.Guest review byTransueUnited States - 8.0

Happy to discover the town centre, having passed though en route to other places several times. Our visit in December, had highlights like the Christmas market, the delights of the Halle on the river side, and the Saturday morning market. Its clear the the Maire is trying hard, and deserves success. We are more than happy to return in the summer months and enjoy the activities along the river.Guest review byChicken JoFrance - 10.0
A beautiful little village, lovely scenic views.
A beautiful little village, lovely scenic views. The main square holds a little market on a Thursday selling fresh produce, wines and clothes etc. There are also a number of friendly restaurants. It is easy to walk around the village but there are some steep pathways. You will need to drive or take a taxi to travel to the next villageGuest review byjennyUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Agen is a bland town or city.
Agen is a bland town or city. However, having spent all night out on the streets the mild weather gives it a feeling less fear of dying. I spoke to people - I only saw males and I am a female. I was vulnerable but not under threat. A couple of people I spoke to in my very poor French with my native English and lots of body language, were lovely and approachable. However, there with storms in the night there were power cuts so it was very dark with no street lights. However, I was fobbed off by the propriator of the hotel in the rudest possible manner. I was refused entrance to my hotel because I was late (I had walked miles to get to it from the bus stop, I didn't know the area and the address is unmarked and down a small back street quite hidden. THis was not explained. Agen is a bit like Crew, it is a change point for trains to go anywhere but the town is a bit drab in itself.Guest review byChristineUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Not much happening.
Not much happening. Not many places to eat especially if you want to sit outside - we had to as we have a dog. Two nice places to eat and they are next to each other - The Creperie Bretonne (where we ate and had great Gallettes and crepes) and a Pizza restaurant (don’t know the name) - both extremely busy - think you had to book for the pizza one. Managed to park our car in the same side street just feet away - we had a loaded car as en route south and wanted to leave it where we could see it. Visited Marmande as staying at Originals City Hotel which has a great location less than a minute off the autoroute and is excellent. However we sat and had a chat with some great professional singers from Paris who were competing in the 35th MusicFestival in Marmande - and one of them won it!Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom
