Although locate in a superb area for walking a town can easily judge a town by the age profile and what facilities are open and he quality of them. The town boast 24000 in 1973 and now has an aging population of 9000. The bars are well we could not find one that had any 'local' attmosphere and the restaurants looked run down and catering for some minorities. The only supermarket is a SPAR with dodgy hygiene standards in the centre. The cathedral is rpobably the real tail tail - what happened there. I uess the give away is the number of high rise blocks of flats that are only 20% occupied by the said elderly and the number of lights on in the evening. For a town that is trying to attract tourism according the 'Office de Tourism' it needs to decide who as there is nothing in town to do that!! The trot round town 1 hour tops then roll on.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Don't bother going.
Don't bother going. It feels like a travel lodge, cheap feeling. Staff we ok not their fault. Breakfast an uncomfortable disaster. Clearly they are measuring portions and there is next to nothing on offer. I gave up and didn't eat. Really cheap behaviour for an expensive cost.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We were unfortunate with the weather - our intention had been to take several hikes around the Les Rousses area, but once the temperature dropped from the mid-30s (on day 2) it then started to rain with heavy downpours and thunder storms, meaning that hiking was not really an option. Unfortunately, without a car in the rain in August (with many businesses on holiday), there isn't that much to do in Les Rousses itself - the Fort des Rousses is great, but you do need reasonable weather for the other outdoor activities. We also had to arrange transport as we don't drive, and the local taxi service is limited (book well in advance if you need a taxi). But the walk to the lake is lovely as is the walk up to the Roche Blanche (and I think the hike to Le Noirmont would also have been great had we been able to complete it or see anything....).Guest review byCarolineUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Wonderful destination out of time.
Wonderful destination out of time. Open fields, forests, nature walks, lake, skiing or snowshoeing, there’s an activity for any season. It’s very tranquil and can be really nice for a family trip with kids. It’s accessible easily enough with the Swiss RER that you can use to explore other towns around for more diversity on the food scene.Guest review byCLARISSEFrance - 8.0
One of the smallest towns in Switzerland.
One of the smallest towns in Switzerland. Fifth time here, but haven't visited watch museum. As many other Swiss towns it's dying, so enjoy it until it's gone. Less and less people living there. Check a small second hand shop in front of hotel 3 kings - 80% are common household things, but often you can find some rare treasure like 50 years old Swiss knife, portable fondu copper set, vinyls, rare books, cutlery, etc.Guest review byvaldajkoChina - 10.0

Les Rousses is at the ideal altitude for body regeneration (1000-1500). Beautiful green landscapes. Close to rural activities (cows breeding). Numerous restaurants available at a good price. Huge spaces for everyone. Walks available around the lake. Swiss country reach at 2 km. It's a location I'm used to go over and over without ever getting bored. Hotel Restaurant du Mont Saint-Jean (Golf) is a very nice place to go for Hotel AND restaurant ! Planted in the countryside...Guest review byBernardAruba - 10.0

We were particularly seduced by the architecture and decoration of this establishment which, with audacity and scrupulous respect for the environment, fits perfectly into the landscape. Despite a very recent opening, the welcome of the young team contributes to the general feeling of serenity. The cooperation of chefs Emmanuel Renaut and Julien martineau allows us to hope for culinary heights... Our little dog was delighted with the visit organized by the director, Mr. Cheminade, it must be said that he is as passionate when he talks about the Hotel des Horlogers as his Schnauzer dog!Guest review byFONTANEAU - 10.0
Les Rousses is a fantastic centre for day walking.
Les Rousses is a fantastic centre for day walking. There are dozens of well marked routes of various length and for different abilities. Just buy the walking map from the Office of Tourism and you are ready to go. I have no car and had enough walks for a week. If you have a car the possibilities are endless. Some of those hills are really steep so have fun! There is a good mix of open and forest walking.Guest review byLouise
