It is on the western coast of the island, so if there is a sunset, you would see it. On our days, it was rainy, but that simply brought a different kind of beauty. The beaches were mostly empty - we had them to ourselves. There are several ways to get to the beach below, and all are an easy, short walk. Yet, the hotel is elevated, so you have a lovely view of the coastline. The room was light and airy, and very clean. There is plenty of storage space, and a nice shower with plenty of pressure. The bed was very comfortable, and there were room darkening curtains. The hotel was full when we were there, but it was still quiet. Breakfast is not included, but we found it to be worth the price. There was a lot of variety in the pastries offered, along with cheese, meat, boiled eggs, cereal, and fruit. We would recommend this place, and would stay again.Guest review byJulieUnited States

The town is quite spread out - cars or bicycles are needed...
The town is quite spread out - cars or bicycles are needed to get around. Most of the town faces the main beach area which is very oyster production orientated and not very pretty. There are a number of great restaurants and a nice town centre by the church - it’s not immediately obvious. Nice fishing village with plenty of restaurants and tourist-oriented shops. The village centre is a harbour and the beaches are on the edge of the village. The main town, St Pierre, is very close and worth a visit. The busy fishing port and fresh fish markets were of great interest, and there was plenty of choice at restaurants -particularly if you wanted to eat fresh fish! The island is really well set-up for cycling-cycle lanes abound and the island of Oleron is flat.
