The owners have crafted a very comfortable and charming inn out of an old house in a fashionable residential area in the central city. The art work throughout is pleasing and distinctive. The public rooms and guest rooms are relaxing and not pretentious. The hosts are truly warm and welcoming. The breakfast is exceptional. The secure parking really is nearby (in the same block). A pool and peaceful sitting areas are available inside and out. It is a quiet and ideal base to savor this distinctive city. Loved the plush towels and walk in shower.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff was very friendly. The pool was small but adequate. We did not eat at the restaurant as it was a little too fancy for our taste, but did find a great restaurant up the hill called the Trident.

2nd time I stay this year in this property. My go to adresse when I want a weekend getaway in Camargue. Authenticity, nature and quiet are key words. Extremely relaxing stay, 1.5km away from " Natural Parc ". And 15min bike ride if you want to go to the beach ( you have possibility to rent them directly there ). Will come back for sure after high season around September.

The city has two polar opposites, the touristy all polished places and the very narrow dirty little streets. I only got to see this because we arrived in the city with a car very late at nigh (early in the morning) 3:30am, and we missed a turn to get to our hotel so the navigation took us into different one way alleys and it was surprisingly lively and busy (not in a good way) at that time of the night. Otherwise on the typical tourist attractions everything seems normal, you see diversity of people, a lot of options for food and good atmosphere. We even witnessed a protest going on and still felt safe.

We had a car so we took day trips to surrounding towns in Provence before leaving Avignon to head up to Lyon, then Amboise, then Paris. I wish we had devoted more time to exploring Avignon itself without driving somewhere else every day. Next time I'd plan more time to just hang out in Avignon, and go to the museums, shop, visit close by locations (walking or biking), etc.

Came for the Cezanne 2025 exhibits, and thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay in Aix en Provence. See the Basitide, see the studio, walk up to the Jardin des peintres. We even enjoyed a Cezanne-themed bike tour, and of course the Musée Granet. As in most of touristed areas of France, do a little extra homework, pick your spots, and make reservations for dinner- and even lunch. We did the 'menu wander,' which often leads to 'just ok' meals.

Arles is easy to walk around with a few inclines and cobbled roads. Most places of interest are within minutes of each other. A lot of cafes, restaurants and places to get an ice cream. A lot of independent shops with good quality wares. A delightful place, a lot of charm whether you want to follow in the steps of Van Gogh or not! We enjoyed the food and the people at Le QG, and Jardin des Arts. Getting to Arles by train from Montpellier is easy and just a short walk to get into Arles.

We Didn’t like Toulon. Large, busy place. The main town wasn’t nice and not somewhere I would want to walk around. Beaches were very average - dusty shingle rather than sand. I wouldn’t return or recommend. We included the visit in a stopover.

there are no 5star hotel groups there.. no Mario's or sheratons or Hiltons ? wonder why ?? the hotels are overpriced for the value we get. But the city is lovely and a very nice place to visit. Ie. the Breakfast place where we stay - the older generation with old mentality are Races and Rude, but the new younger generation are very nice and polite. I thin the older ones have their pains in the Ass..s to worry

Enjoyed swimming, walking along the sea front and the ports and having coffee overlooking the sea front. Didn’t really see the uphill historic part, which I regret. The Tourist office at Saint Raphael was helpful as I needed a bus timetable. I’d say you need to be reasonably fit ( or have a car) to stay in the area I was in as in fact buses were few and far between so I did a lot of walking. I was on an Interrail pass so also enjoyed a little side trip out to Nice, which has good and frequent rail links with Saint Raphael.

Hyeres is beautiful like with a touch of Saint Tropez but way more peaceful. The people are nice and kind-very helpful. There are so many beach to chooce from. The transfortation is efficient enough. My favorite spot is the Port Saint Pierre- where you can dine by the port. I stayed in Ibis Budget hotel which is very close to the city center. We like to fly into Nice and head to Saint Raphael as it’s a large coastal town with a harbour but smaller than Nice and beautiful promenade and many restaurants . I can swim in the sea everyday and grab the sun . It’s a lovely town . Very easy to grab a bus for day trips to other places or a train. We love heading to St Tropez for a day trip . A lovely bus trip . Cheap and great views of the coastline . Also Agay is beautiful resort . You could do Cannes . I’m not sure as regards nightlife as we are are here to relax . There is a harbour and yachts aplenty . So there are options to indulge in sea/ water activities . There is a Monoprix supermarket on same street as large church and few minutes into front of train station . Various Pharmacies . (Important to note that as of this year you cannot purchase strong painkillers from a pharmacy in France . It’s by presciption only . So if you need or require some ensure you take them with you .) .great boulangeries and cheesemongers . There’s also a fruit , veg , Fish market worth a visit . Saint Raphael is all walkable and I spotted many visitors who were wheelchair users . So access appears to be good here . We usually return to Nice for 2or 3 days for more of a city vibe .
