Tours is a bustling and unspoilt French provincial city. There are many historic and beautiful buildings. churches the chateau and the Musee des Beaux Arts. Streets have many fascinating visitas. It is also a cosmopolitan city with communities from around the world adding to its fascination. We were just crossing the region and avoiding the motorways, but we enjoyed the spectacular views, the lovely villages, the greenery and the flowers. Tours is a great city.
Tours is a great city. Excellent information Bureau near the railway station. Limited shops and restaurants near the stations, but major chains along Rue Nationale which leads to the two historic areas of Tours: the Cathedral Precinct and the Historical Old City Precinct. Fabulous old 12th Century buildlings, squares, cobbled streets, bars and restaurants - fabulous ambiance and well worth a visit. One of the highlights of my visit. Undertook a half day excursion on the second day to two chateaux (Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau) in the Loire Valley - another highlight with an excellent guide.Guest review byAnonymous - 2.0

The area is fine The hotel is definitely not. Dirty. Broken fittings. Bad smell. Toilet flush broken. Soap dispensers empty. The first room had a broken sink. We were told they were full. This town is right outside Tours proper and even after asking at our hotel desk we could not find anything other than fast food to eat nearby. Tours, not Joue-les-Tours, is a much bigger city with more restaurants, but it is terribly congested with traffic and ugly, ugly modern cheap buildings. Parking is a nightmare there. I mention this because there isn't much in Joue-les-Tours itself, and since you have to get through the horrible Tours traffic to go much of anywhere, it's not the best base for touring the Loire Valley that I thought it would be.Guest review byLuannUnited States - 6.0
