- From $164.74 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,521 reviewsWe loved everything about our stay at the Balmoral Arms! The room was very generously sized (including an enormous bed), bathroom new and clean, and the thoughtful complimentary gifts for humans and dogs were a lovely touch. The hotel in general is super dog-friendly, and the bar area was a wonderfully comfortable place to sit and have a quiet drink/snacks after a long day in the hills. Breakfast is generous, and location is perfect. Staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful. We cannot wait to return.Guest review byJeanetteUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 132 reviewsWalking distance to almost everything I needed in the village shopping area. The proximity to Balmoral Castle really surprised me too. Well manicured and very quiet neighbourhood, exactly what I wanted for a good break. Full marks to the self-catering facilities and cottage arrangement.Guest review byJimUnited Kingdom

Beautiful little town in a stunning location. The town is decorated with the most amazing hanging baskets. Several pubs, all seemed to be busy and offered good value food. The town is ideally located for exploring the beautiful areaGuest review byJuliaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Stonehaven is a cute village with 2 pubs/restaurants. Not much to do but definitely a must see! The Captains Table restaurant was lovely and must be booked in advance as very busy and turning many people away.Guest review byizznogUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I visit family in Peterhead.
I visit family in Peterhead. However, if you are interested in walking and coastal scenery, then Peterhead is for you. As a town, it is not very spectacular, but the harbours and history are fascinating. Peterhead has all amenities and decent pubs and eateries. Easy access to the Moray coast and the highlands. Aberdeen is a short drive. The whiskey trail is also nearby.Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It has many attractive historical buildings in the centre of the town, a centrally located train station and Riverside Park. I recommend the £2 heritage trails guide available from the heritage centreGuest review byScott - 2.0
A beautiful setting with the river running past.
A beautiful setting with the river running past. However our room facing the entrance and carpark made it very difficult to relax.Guests gather at the entrance and late at night it is very difficult to sleep. The staff were wonderful and helped us find alternative accommodation in the town . It is a shame we were not told about a wedding party so we could have made a choice whether to stay rather than listen to the celebrations which we fully understand would always be noisy.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Fraserburgh is a fishing town with a long heritage and history, there are interesting places to visit in the town and surrounding area making it a good base for exploring this part of Buchan. The town centre is a bit run down as are some of, what led to be its more vibrant bars , but don't let this put you off staying. There are some hidden gems if you are prepared to venture out and about. Visits to the lighthouse museum and (once it reopens) the heritage centre are a must as is walks around to Broadsea, a traditional fishing village now part of the town, and the beach is spectacular. The harbour is busy so take care when going there but it is worth a look at the impressive fishing vessels. The beach cafe is a great place for lunch and you can't go wrong with fish and chips from the many chip shops. I could write more but go and check it out for yourself.Guest review byKeithUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Aboyne is a lovely place for a short break.
Aboyne is a lovely place for a short break. Good facilities and lovely surroundings. Places to eat out at night are limited but what is on offer is good. At present the Aboyne bridge to the South Deeside road is closed to vehicles and will be so for the next few years. Approach the town by the A93 or face a 10 to 15 mile diversion.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We stayed in the gilmore suite for 2 nights. The view was stunning, the room was stunning and everything was overall stunning. We had a meal in the hotel as well and the meal was incredible. I had the steak and my partner had the mixed grill. It was cooked to perfection. Can't thank the staff enough for their warm welcome. Would stay here again.Guest review byjillUnited Kingdom
