I can't recommend the Delrachney Lodge enough. Our room was lovely, our hosts were charming and caring, and the breakfast was amazing. On to of that, they were so concerned about us that one night when getting dinner out would be difficult they made special arrangements for us and gave us a delicious dinner at the Lodge, where they normally do not serve dinner. We will be back without question. Thanks Steve and Tracy for a great experience.

Just a great bed and breakfast in the hills, off the A9. Perfect for doing walks nearby. Cosy guest lounge for relaxing at night. Hosts can provide all meals. Meals are excellent, all plant based, but so tasty and filling, you don't even miss the meat. Breakfasts is a feast at the main table shared with the other guests. One of the top bed and breakfasts in Scotland by far.

The room was great and comfortable. Breakfast was included. There was a restaurant as well as a bar. The staff could not have been more helpful. We had to stay an extra night which they had no problem accommodating us. There was a pool, steam room, sauna. Town was close and you could have even walked. There are trails and so much more.

Very warm welcome throughout our stay, right down to a personalised welcoming note in our room. The breakfast has various options and is well cooked and delicious. We ate in the hotel’s restaurant. It is an award winner with an Indian flavour. The menu is short and the food beats most. It’s quite simply delicious.

It was a stopover for us. If I had known more about the region we would have orranged an extra night. We did do a tour of the Dalwhinnie Distillery on our way south which was great. Make a booking - we were lucky as we hadn't made a one but there was two extra spots. Loved the Duke of Gordon hotel. So very old school and so beautiful. Great value for money.

Boat of Garten is a small village which has some good features and services, including a pub, a village store, pizza shop, art gallery and historic railway station. It is well located in relation to forest walks and other outdoor activities. For any significant shopping you needs to travel nearby Aviemore, 4.5 miles away. Very disappointing stay. Staff were rude and unhelpful - especially at breakfast. Dining staff Bella’s behaviour was shockingly unprofessional and not acceptable. Dirty, smelly rooms, one with a broken bed. Complaints were brushed off with a simple “sorry.” We booked 4 rooms for family visiting from Canada and deeply regret choosing this hotel. Definitely not worth the 4-star rating.

Nestled amongst the mountains with paths and tracks leading all over what’s not to like? Sadly, the general facilities here have gone. No shop for example. One place did have a sign out for coffee, but there could be an opportunity here for someone. Worth climbing up the Cateran Trail heading south to get stunning views looking down on the village. Also visit the stone circle, old bridge and the church. Just soak up the atmosphere!
