I loved the location, being situated on the River Dee is perfect! We walked everywhere, along the River and through lovely gardens, on the ancient wall, to the historic racetrack, to the cathedral, amphitheater, restaurants and pubs. We felt very safe. It was great watching boaters on the river, morning and evening. The room was nice size, very clean with comfortable bed. Breakfast was tasty with nice variety, we had dinner at the restaurant twice also, very convenient. We had a car so onsite parking is a huge plus. Every staff member was pleasant and helpful, no exceptions. Chester is beautiful and I would definitely choose to stay at The Boathouse again.

The room was spotless and provided everything I needed, especially the fantastic tea and coffee setup. I was happy to see the gym was also well-stocked with modern equipment. Arriving by car was hassle-free, thanks to the convenient hotel car park leading straight to reception, where I received a warm welcome. Overall, the hotel lived up to my expectations.

I went to Crewe to see the local area. I visited Nantwich and Sandbach. Nantwich is a lovely small town, and Sandbach is a bit bigger, both lovely to visit. The location on King St was very good , plenty of shops and places for refreshment. Stayed 2 nights at the Rose and Crown, visited a few pubs including The Lord Eldon chatted with the locals who all seemed friendly and gave us good advice. We were guests at a friends wedding at the Culshaw estate , a beautiful venue just a couple of miles away (over peover) Local taxi came on time to the venue . Walked around by The Moor ,had an excellent time . Would have liked to stay longer to visit Tatton Park but will return another time.

Wilmslow is a perfect place to visit Quarry Bank Mill and Alderley Edge. Alderely Edge has great views of the Cheshire Plain and folklore around the wizard, Merlin. both are within walking distance of Wilmslow. Many good pubs and restaurants, there is a local cinema and leisure centre, plus a park called the Carrs with its own beach.

Runcorn is beautiful and we came to visit relatives. But our stay at the hotel wasn’t worth it. It was old and needs overall revamping. Reception staff was nice but the room was so tiny with AC not working and bed was so uncomfortable. Wouldn’t stay at this property again.

The venue is amazing. The glass venue at the front of hotel is an eye catching attraction. The actual dining area is spacious with very comfortable seating. The bar staff are very polite and accommodating. I sat relaxing in the bar whilst my husband had a little shut eye, as he had driven most of the way from East Sussex.

    Lighting in room was poor.

Lighting in room was poor. Not much room between sink and bath and almost fell backwards into the bath. Slightly unpleasant old cigarette smell in ground floor areas but not in the restaurant or bedroom. Comfortable bed and bedroom. Food in restaurant was good. Dont bother having porridge for breakfast as it wasnt cooked long enough. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great ambiance.
